Speaking of racism, the NFL protests over the weekend were ostensibly about racism and police brutality. But now we’re learning they were about something else, namely hatred of President Trump.
After the Pittsburgh Steelers disrespected the American flag, owner Art Rooney II sent a letter to fans explaining their actions. Stunningly, there was no apology.
The idea for the entire team to kneel came from head coach Mike Tomlin. Now we get to the core of the problem: Tomlin and his wife Kiya were major donors to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 political campaign.
The couple hosted a fundraiser for Hillary in 2016. As The Hill reported back in June 2016:
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and his wife, Kiya, are hosting a fundraiser next week for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
The June 14 fundraiser will be held at their home in Pittsburgh, Pa. The invitation has two contribution levels, including a “supporter” level at $10,000 per person and a “host” level of $33,400 per person that offers attendees a reception with the candidate.
The couple are longtime Democratic fundraisers and donated a combined $70,000 to the Obama Victory Fund in 2012, a joint fundraising committee benefiting the president’s reelection campaign and the Democratic National Committee, according to Federal Election Commission filings.
Does this sound like a fundraiser an average person could afford to attend? Hardly:

This shameless display of disrespect is a slap in the face to NFL fans and to America. Too many brave men and women fought and died for our freedoms, and these players shouldn’t be paid millions of dollars to disrespect their memory.
