Melania Trump Opens White House Movie Theater to Tour Groups

After months of living in New York City so her son Barron Trump can finish school, First Lady Melania Trump is moving to the the White House to be closer to her husband.

Liberals repeatedly attacked the First Lady for putting her son’s education first, rather than abruptly moving him to Washington, D.C. after her husband’s inauguration. Melania is a first class mother. She knows that the presidency is going to be difficult on her young son, and decided that it would be unfair for him to leave New York so soon.

Well, now that Melania is officially moving into the White House, she is already having a big impact, and just made a historic move that no First Lady has ever done.

First Lady Melania Trump just opened up the White House Movie Theater to East Wing visitors, marking a major shift in what is available for White House guests to see and experience.

From The Daily Caller:

“The White House belongs to the people of this country,” the first lady said in a White House press release. “I believe everyone who takes the time to visit and tour the White House should have as much access to its rich history and wonderful traditions as possible. It is my hope that our visitors truly enjoy the newest piece of the tour.”

A photo of the red lined movie house was also shared on the first lady’s Instagram account earlier in the day. The caption next to the post read, “Self-guided tours in the East Wing now include the @WhiteHouse movie theater! This house belongs to the people & everyone deserves to enjoy its history!”

The movie room–which at one point started out as the East Terrace cloakroom–was converted into a theater at the direction of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in July 1942. It underwent major remodeling during Ronald Reagan’s administration with the addition of 51 seats in tiered rows. The most recent refurbishment took place in 2004-05 and was inspired by theater design of the early 20th century.

Mrs. Trump knows that The White House is truly the people’s house, and the American public should have the opportunity to experience the beauty and history of the house. Over the years, White House tours have gone through major changes, limiting what the public is allowed to see. One of the most famous rooms in the White House is the Lincoln Bedroom, which has gone through extensive changes and is off-limits to tour groups.

One has to wonder if Melania Trump’s opening of the movie theater is just the first step in a long line of new changes to be made for White House visitors. The First Lady takes her job very seriously and realizes that with great power comes great responsibility. The First Lady believes it is her duty to give back to the American public, and expanding access to visitors is a great first step.
