According to a report from The Daily Mail, First Lady Melania Trump has spent “a number of nights” at an upscale D.C. hotel away from the White House – and President Donald Trump – following allegations that Trump had an affair with porn star Stormy Daniels in 2006.
Earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal reported that Trump’s lawyer paid Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about the tryst, which allegedly happened in a Lake Tahoe hotel room following a celebrity charity golf tournament. At the time, Melania would have been at home taking care of a then-4-month-old Barron.
If that’s not bad enough, following the WSJ report, celebrity magazine In Touch Weekly published an interview with Daniels from 2011 in which she talked about the alleged sexual encounter.
Unsurprisingly, the reports have been a huge cause of stress for Melania. According to a White House source, “It’s been upsetting and humiliating; her relationship with President Trump has become strained.” Indeed, Melania virtually went into hiding after the WSJ report was published. On Thursday, she made an unannounced appearance at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. – the first time she was seen in 10 days.

Further, Melania and Trump’s 13th wedding anniversary was on Monday, but neither of them remarked on the occasion on social media or otherwise.
Melania also canceled plans to join Trump on his trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. East Wing communications director Stephanie Grisham said the decision was made due to “scheduling and logistical issues.” However, White House sources have said that a memo sent to staffers indicated that Melania is not expected to make any solo appearances while Trump is away, with one source saying that she “rarely comes into her West Wing office.”
“Melania spends three to four days a week away from the White House and has stayed at a hotel in D.C. multiple times in January, often for days at a time,” the source said. “She also travels up to New York.”
Honestly, who can blame Melania for wanting to lay low? If all the the reports aren’t bad enough, Daniels has added insult to injury by capitalizing on the alleged affair and launching a “Make America Horny Again” tour to strip clubs up and down the East Coast. It’s classless, opportunistic, and completely inconsiderate of Melania’s feelings.
Take the Daily Mail report as you will, but the fact is that it’s much better when Trump and Melania present a united front – and right now that’s not the case. Let’s hope this whole thing resolves itself soon.
