Melania Trump ‘Likes’ Tweet Wondering How She Received ‘Einstein Visa’

Unlike her husband, First Lady Melania Trump isn’t very active on Twitter. However, she recently took the time to “like” a tweet wondering how she received her EB-1 visa, otherwise known as an “Einstein visa.”

On Sunday night, Melania used her personal @MELANIATRUMP account – which is different from her official @FLOTUS account – to “like” a tweet from Twitter user @bendybubble asking, “How Exactly Did Melania Trump Get an ‘Einstein Visa?'” The tweet included a link to a clip from The David Pakman Show.

Melania has since “un-liked” the tweet, but screenshots are provided below via The Daily Mail.

Melania applied in 2000 for the EB-1 visa, a rare specialty visa reserved for “individuals with extraordinary ability” that grants the right to live permanently in the United States. She received the visa in 2001 – along with just 4 other people from her home country of Slovenia – presumably for her modeling work, which included an appearance in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

However, Pakman doesn’t seem to understand why modeling would make Melania deserving of an EB-1 visa, which is often awarded to nuclear scientists, Nobel laureates, and doctors. “What exactly at the time were Melania Trump’s, or Melania Knuass’ at the time, credentials?” he asked on his syndicated radio show.

Well, according to immigration lawyers, modeling work is well within the often subjective criteria of what constitutes “extraordinary ability.” As Rita Sostrin, a Los Angeles-based lawyer who has written extensively about EB-1s, put it, “Recipients are supposed to be the best of the best, but meeting the criteria is no guarantee. An adjudication officer makes a judgment call.”

In other words, there’s a chance that it was Melania’s “extraordinary” looks that bagged her the visa. Then again, Marshall Cohen, a lawyer in Atlanta who specializes in EB-1s for world-ranked track and field athletes, said he wouldn’t have hesitated to take on her case. “I am assuming she made a lot of money, got a lot of press and was on the cover of magazines,” he said. “She was probably a pretty easy case.”

As per usual, it seems that liberals like Pakman just can’t handle having a first lady as extraordinary as Melania Trump.
