Meghan McCain mocked President Donald Trump by sharing a meme on Twitter that depicted her late father following the projected win of Arizona for Biden by the media.
Arizona, a hotly contested state in the presidential election, was finally called for Joe Biden on Thursday by most sources, after the AP and Fox prematurely called the state for Biden very early on.
In response, Meghan McCain, the daughter of the late Senator John McCain, shared a meme on Twitter depicting her father, celebrating President Trump’s apparent loss. The meme has a photo of John McCain, captioned “I like people who don’t lose Arizona.”
The meme is a reference to President Trump’s comments about McCain back in July of 2015, shortly after he had announced that he was standing for the Republican candidacy for president.
“He’s not a war hero,” Trump said at the time. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured,” the President continued. McCain had spent five and a half years as a POW in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
It’s not just Meghan McCain who would be celebrating the apparent win of Vice President Biden – the whole McCain family is staunchly in the anti-Trump camp. Cindy McCain, the late Senator’s widow, will even be serving as part of Biden’s transition team.
“I think my husband would be very pleased,” Cindy McCain told CNN during Monday night interview.
“We were good friends with the Bidens,” she added. “And I just know he is looking down and going, ‘You did the right thing.'”
Cindy McCain also called for President Trump to concede the election “in a gracious, polite manner,” claiming that would be “what is good for the country,” rather than doing “what’s right for our party.”
Last week, Mike Murphy, a former aide to Senator McCain, said that if Biden did win in Arizona, it would be the revenge of Senator McCain from beyond the grave, something many others in the media and political class pointed out as well.
