Trump’s week of rage continues. His next target: National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster.

Earlier this week, Trump purged the State Department of both Rex Tillerson, the Secretary of State, but also Steve Goldstein, the department’s Under Secretary. The very same day, Trump was forced to fire his personal assistant John McEntee.

Now The Washington Post is confirming that Trump intends to fire H.R. McMaster, the not-well-liked National Security Adivsor who replaced Michael Flynn after the latter’s unexpected resignation last year.

From the report:

President Trump has decided to remove H.R. McMaster as his national security adviser and is actively discussing potential replacements, according to five people with knowledge of the plans, preparing to deliver yet another jolt to the senior ranks of his administration.

Trump is now comfortable with ousting McMaster, with whom he never personally gelled, but is willing to take time executing the move because he wants to ensure both that the three-star Army general is not humiliated and that there is a strong successor lined up, these people said.

A few things to parse here: This report dropped last evening, but not to much fanfare. That’s because the report is not yet confirmed by the White House, and it’s not even official yet. Trump hasn’t fired McMaster. He’s reportedly ready to, and is at a place where getting rid of him sits right in his head.

Regardless, we’ve known for a while that Trump wasn’t comfortable with McMaster and wants a change in leadership. Just last month, The Post published a similar story about Trump seeking a McMaster replacement.

If one were to hazard a guess, it’s that Trump is inching closer to pulling the trigger. And McMaster’s successor? None other than hawkish national security pundit John Bolton.

What do you think? Would you support replacing McMaster with John Bolton? Tell us your thoughts below!
