McCarthy: Kamala Harris 'Spent More Time At The Airport Than She Spent At The Border'

After Vice President Kamala Harris made her heavily publicized visit to Texas, pitched as her visit to the Southern border, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy ripped the idea, saying she spent more time at the El Paso, Texas airport than at the actual border.

McCarthy made his comments during an interview on “Fox & Friends” on Fox News on Saturday.

The House Minority Leader started by saying the Biden administration needed to stop blaming Trump for the migrant crisis.

“Well, it seems like she spent more time at the airport than she spent at the border,” McCarthy said.

He continued, “But to literally say that they inherited a problem and they’ve made progress? None of those facts play out.”

McCarthy accused the Biden administration of making an already complicated problem worse.

“You have a border that was secure,” McCarthy said. “You had a new administration that changed executive orders and invited people to rush the border illegally.”

Among his first actions in office, Biden made numerous changes to immigration policy via executive order.

McCarthy went on, “Now in May, we had 180,000 encounters. That was a 21-year record of illegal crossings. For the last three months, it has increased.”

McCarthy then took issue with President Biden putting Harris in charge of fixing the border crisis.

“The time that the president asked the vice president to take on this job, half a million illegal individuals came across this border when counted,” McCarthy continued.

“Those are the people we were able to encounter,” he added. “I think there’s going to be more than a million individuals that get through here that we don’t encounter from more than 160 countries.”

McCarthy ended with a disturbing observation.

“And what’s worse, Pete, you would understand this,” McCarthy said, “we are catching people who are on the terrorist watch list from Yemen.”

In April, Reuters reported that two Yemenis on the terror watch list tried to cross the border.
