McCarthy Considering Punishment For ‘Pelosi Republicans’ Cheney And Kinzinger

Kevin McCarthy blasted Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, calling them "Pelosi Republicans" and suggesting he's considering punishment for their role on the select committee investigating the Capitol protest.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy blasted Representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, calling them “Pelosi Republicans” and suggesting he’s considering punishment for their role on the select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot.

Cheney (R-WY) was initially selected by Pelosi to serve on the panel due to her anti-Trump credentials. Kinzinger (R-IL) followed shortly thereafter when the House Speaker rejected McCarthy’s recommendations of Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Jim Banks (R-IN) to serve.

Banks and Jordan objected to certifying the results of the 2020 presidential election, a move viewed by Democrats as instigating the incident that took place on January 6.

Jordan is a staunch and very vocal ally of former President Trump.

Cheney celebrated her addition to the panel saying, “Congress is obligated to conduct a full investigation.”

Kinzinger said he “humbly” accepts the appointment by Pelosi because “duty calls.”

Cheney and Kinzinger both voted with Democrats to impeach President Trump.

In response to all the political maneuvering, McCarthy (R-CA) referred to the anti-Trump duo as “Pelosi Republicans.”

McCarthy To Punish Kinzinger And Cheney?

Politico reports that House Republicans forced a vote Monday in an effort to seat McCarthy’s picks for the committee, but the measure was voted down.

“Cheney and Kinzinger joined every Democrat in voting to table the proposal,” they revealed.

McCarthy left the door open as to whether or not he’d consider doling out punishment to Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger.

“We’ll see,” he said when asked about possible sanctions for joining the Democrat committee.

The Daily Mail reports: “The GOP leader is under pressure from some members of his Republican caucus to crack down on Cheney and Kinzinger.”

Cheney has already been ousted from GOP leadership for her repeated attacks on former President Trump.

‘Pelosi Republicans’ Respond

Cheney and Kinzinger responded as you’d expect, attacking McCarthy for pointing out their willingness to bend the knee to Pelosi.

“Look, we’re about this very serious business here. We have important work to do,” Cheney said of doing Pelosi’s bidding. “And I think that’s pretty childish.”

“It would speak volumes if he (McCarthy) took away their committee assignments to ‘punish them’ for upholding their oath to protecting our democracy,” a melodramatic spokesperson for Kinzinger said.

“McCarthy is technically my Republican leader,” Kinzinger himself said. “And to call members of Congress by childish names like Donald Trump used to do, I guess, is just kind of par for the course.”

Kinzinger acting as if he’s distraught over McCarthy’s comments is amusing considering just weeks ago he was basking in a liberal media glow for calling Trump a “loser President” and attacking his supporters.

It’s rather obvious that Pelosi is intent on stacking the select committee to investigate the Capitol protest with anti-Trumpers. And she’s using Cheney and Kinzinger to present the entire charade as ‘bipartisan.’
