On Sunday, far-left Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters argued that it was “disrespectful” for anyone to claim that President Joe Biden’s promise to consider only black women for the open Supreme Court seat.

Waters, on MSNBC’s “Alex Witt Reports,” proclaimed that making a black woman the new Supreme Court justice was exciting, calling it a “game-changer.”

Waters: ‘For a black woman to become a Supreme Court justice would be one of the most historic and important things this country can do’

“For a black woman to become a Supreme Court justice would be one of the most historic and important things this country can do and experience,” Waters said. “It is just so exciting to think about it.”

“I guess what is it? Over 260 years, we’ve never even had a black woman nominated,” Waters continued. “And there are only two black males on the Supreme Court. To have a black woman, there would be a game-changer.”

Host Alex Witt then cut in to get Waters’ reaction to a comment made by Republican Sen. Roger Wicker.

Wicker argued that only considering someone based on their race and gender was akin to affirmative action:

“The irony is the Supreme Court is at the very same time hearing cases about this sort of affirmative racial discrimination, and while adding someone who is the beneficiary of this sort of quota, the majority of the court may be saying at large, it’s unconstitutional.”

“We’ll see how that irony works out,” Wicker added.

The nation’s top court recently announced they would hear two challenges to affirmation action policies in college admissions.

The cases center around “diversity” efforts that the challengers say end up discriminating against Asian students, who are often rejected for admissions despite having higher scores.

Waters on Wicker’s comments: ‘It’s disrespectful, dishonorable, and we are going on get past that’

Waters commented, “It’s so disrespectful. And actually, the way he’s coming out after it is so outdated. Even the most conservative member of the Supreme Court and Republicans know that it is beyond time to diversify the Supreme Court of America.” 

“And the absence of a woman, a black woman, means that it is not diversified,” the Democrat said. “You don’t have at the table the voices of everyone in this country that should be represented.”

“It’s disrespectful, it’s dishonorable, and we are going to have to get past that,” Waters said.
