The Left’s Narrative Blows Up As Armed Guard Stops School Shooter

Liberals love to claim it’s a myth that armed citizens ever stop mass public shootings – and they’re technically right. If an armed citizen stops a shooter right as he begins opening fire and before anyone dies, there technically wasn’t a mass shooting that was stopped – because the armed citizen prevented it from occurring in the first place.

Such was the case in Maryland today, when a Great Mills High School student opened fire, injuring two students, before being the only fatality when an armed school resource officer shot the student.

As reported by the Daily Caller, “according to St. Mary’s County Sheriff Tim Cameron, the school resource officer (SRO) fired a round at the shooter, who fired a round in return. The shooter is now dead, Cameron confirmed Tuesday morning, and an investigation will determine whether the SRO’s bullet struck the shooter.”

“The incident is now over, though the shooter managed to injure two students. One of them is in critical condition in the hospital, Cameron said. The SRO was not injured during the incident.”

The contrast in how this shooting was handled, and the recent Valentine’s Day shooting at Stoneman Douglass High School, couldn’t be any starker. Multiple armed officers waited by idly while the massacre at Stoneman Douglass unfolded.

There were 17 deaths and 14 injuries at Stoneman Douglass, but only two injuries when the SROs did their job.

The shooter, who has still not been identified, had been pronounced dead, according to Sheriff Timothy K. Cameron. The Sheriff also said that there was “no question” the situation would have been worse if the school resource officer had not engaged the shooter. No kidding.

Don’t expect to hear that narrative in the mainstream media though. The shooter came packing a handgun instead of an AR-15 and was stopped by an armed guard, so there’s nothing for the Left to politicize here.

Share this story if you’re glad the school had an armed guard on staff!
