By now, you’ve no doubt heard the latest “walls are closing in” legal drama in the left’s effort to take out President Trump.

It has nothing to do with the law, or “novel interpretations” of campaign finance law. That’s just the latest excuse.

One in a long, long line of latest excuses.

Regardless of whether or not this time is different, and the walls really are closing in, popular conservative radio host Mark Levin explains the real reason why a Manhattan DA is pulling out all the stops.

Levin Explains

The truth is, Trump could well be the most investigated man in the world. The Democrats in Congress couldn’t get him. Remember “Trump is selling our nuclear secrets to Putin”? Yeah, that one didn’t work either.

But that’s not stopping them. No, something has to stick. Levin explains:

How many times have they gone after this man? What exactly has he done to deserve this? Why are they studying his life like they are studying an archaeological site? Why are they looking for novel legal theories to go after the man? Why are they trying to turn a law upside down where they have to jump through the hoops in Manhattan? The statute of limitations two years for a misdemeanor, five years for a felony. They have been examining it for six years. The Southern District of New York, the U.S. Attorney’s office looked at it and said there’s no federal crime here, and there isn’t.

Protections against double jeopardy is only afforded to those who are friends to power, it seems.

And campaign finance violations? Mere fines, so long as you’re friends with those in power… even if you’re hiring foreign spies to concoct fantasies in an attempt to attack our democracy.

And speaking of campaign finance… whatever happened to that Sam Bankman-Fried stuff and all his billions to politicians?

Ah, well. They’ll probably get to it after they’re done “getting Trump.”

But Levin was just getting started.

Since When?

Levin got into the specifics a bit, arguing that there simply is no crime here:

Companies, individuals, divorce parties enter into non-disclosure agreements, 10,000 a day, probably, all across this country. How much do you want to bet the Manhattan DA’s office has entered into non-disclosure agreements? How much do you want to bet the Department of Justice, the FBI and the U.S. Attorneys have entered into non-disclosure agreements?

How much you want to bet these news operations covering it, like MSNBC, NBC, and the rest, have entered into non-disclosure agreements? Now we call it hush money? There’s nothing illegal with non-disclosure agreements. The reason you have a non-disclosure agreement, whether it’s severance or something, is you’re telling people keep you big mouth shut. In exchange for that, we’ll take care of you. That’s not a crime. It is what it is. It’s a contract.

So far as anyone knew a week ago, that was true. And it’s not like Trump was paying a settlement in a sexual harassment lawsuit, like Bill Clinton paid to Paula Jones in the back-when.

Levin continues:

That’s number one. Number two, what is this DA doing? So he has a non-disclosure agreement, does the Trump organization or this entity set up by Michael Cohen. So what? Why do they keep looking at it? Well, because it was paid for by a third entity that used corporate money. So what? Who cares? [Trump] didn’t pay for it out of his campaign, so there’s no question of the misused campaign dollars.

If Levin is correct, and I have no reason to believe he isn’t, we’re looking at sheer lawlessness.

There are a lot of commentators saying that an arrest would actually benefit Trump, and that he would win the election in a landslide.

I’m not so sure about that. What I am sure about, is that I’ll never set foot in New York City again. If I want to travel to a Banana Republic I’ll at least go somewhere warm. A place that isn’t full of trash and crime.
