Terrible news out of Florida, where we’re learning that police have responded to a school shooting at Forest High School in Marion County, Florida.
The Marion County sheriff’s office just posted this:

The Marion County Sheriffs Office says there has been a shooting at Forest high school. Deputies say one person was injured and they have a suspect in custody. Officials say the school is on lockdown, until they clear the rest of the campus

Deputies are telling parents NOT come to Forest High School to pick up their children. The school board will be reuniting parents and students at the First Baptist Church of Ocala on Southeast Maricamp Road.

Thank goodness the suspect is now in custody.
A school shooting today is especially relevant, as walkouts are planned across the country by students to protest gun violence. Today is also the anniversary of the Columbine school shootings, which raised awareness about firearms in schools.
Florida Governor Rick Scott has addressed the report on Twitter:
I was just briefed by @MCSOFlorida Sheriff Billy Woods on today’s shooting in Ocala. I have also spoken with @EducationFL Commissioner Pam Stewart and @FDLEPIO Commissioner Rick Swearingen. I’ve offered any state support to Marion County they may need.
