Look Who’s Backing Bernie in 2020, Even Though He’s ‘Old’ and ‘White’

Since announcing his intention to run for the Democrat nomination in the 2020 presidential election, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has earned millions in donations.

In addition to the flow of money to his campaign, Sanders can also rely on some backing from some Hollywood bigwigs.

While his candidacy is unlikely to be as popular among celebrities as it was in the 2016 presidential election, Sanders is already looking at some celebrity endorsements.

Actor Danny DeVito, who campaigned with Sanders in the last presidential election, tweeted his endorsement of the 77-year-old senator on Wednesday afternoon.

“Sanders 2020,” the “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star tweeted to his nearly four million followers.

Before that tweet, DeVito retweeted several news stories announcing the Sanders candidacy.

Another celebrity who has been supportive of Bernie’s bid for the White House is “High Fidelity” and “Grosse Point Blank” star John Cusack.

The actor said he would like to see Elizabeth Warren on the same ticket as Sanders.

Cusack has also been pushing back on liberals who criticize Sanders’ inclusion in a Democratic race.

“We will need every bit of experience he’s got — Also ageism really doesn’t work for me, nor qualifying or disqualifying based on gender or race — It’s the policies of justice that matter — Otherwise you could run [Condoleezza] Rice and Ivanka Trump — substance,” he tweeted in response to a user’s saying Sanders is “too old” and “too white” to be president.

President Donald Trump also commented on Sanders’ candidacy.

After the news broke that Sanders was entering the race, Trump tweeted, “Crazy Bernie has just entered the race. I wish him well!”
