Liz Cheney continued to rip the party she claims to represent after suggesting her crushing defeat in last week’s GOP primary for Wyoming’s at-large House seat was due to ignorant Republican voters believing lies and “very sick” leadership within her party.
Cheney lost by over 37 points to Republican Harriet Hageman, her Donald Trump-backed challenger.
In an interview with ABC News, the Wyoming Representative claimed “large portions” of the party were being led astray by GOP leadership.
And of course, it’s the fault of her own personal boogeyman.
“I think it says a couple of things. I think it says people continue to believe the lie,” she said, referencing those Republicans who voted against her. “They continue to believe what he’s saying, which is dangerous.”
The “lie” is a reference to Trump’s claims about the 2020 presidential election.
.@JonKarl: “What does your defeat say about Trump’s hold on the Republican Party?”

Liz Cheney: I Lost Because Voters Believed the Lies
Responding to her election day drubbing, Representative Liz Cheney continued to hammer the Republican Party and any voters who may have fallen for the alleged “lies.”
“I think it also tells you that large portions of our party, including the leadership of our party, is very sick,” she claimed.
She’s really just one step away from going full-blown Democrat and accusing Republican voters of being misogynists. Certainly, that’ll be next up in her list of excuses. Or, perhaps Russia interfered in the election to take her down.
Aside from accusing her own voters of being gullible rubes, Liz Cheney did manage to accept the reality that former President Trump is a top authority figure in the Republican Party.
“It says that clearly [Trump’s] hold is very strong among some portions of the Republican Party,” she said of her loss. “My state of Wyoming is not necessarily a representative sample of the party.”
Trump bested President Joe Biden by well over 40 points in the 2020 election. They are, contrary to what she says, representative of the party.
After her primary defeat, GOP Rep. Liz Cheney tells @jonkarl that she will focus on working to keep election deniers out of office.
“I’m going to work against those people, I’m going to work to support their opponents. I think it matters that much.” https://t.co/ztgdHLNV99 pic.twitter.com/cHDGCmvihJ

Cheney’s Inability to Understand Reality
Liz Cheney’s interview with ABC News is a microcosm of why she lost in Wyoming – an inability to accept reality and a willingness to believe her own ridiculous lies.
The former number three in the GOP lost because she refused to work for her constituents and instead continued to aid Democrats in attacking Trump.
Her ignorance in accepting that reality instead of trying to earn respect from voters turned them off.

What does she do after that lesson in humility? She goes out and rips Republican voters whose support she’d presumably need should she run for President in 2024.
And believe it or not – the delusional congresswoman who couldn’t win a primary she won last time by 32 points (a 69-point swing) – is considering running.
Cheney recently told CNN that she is considering making a White House run in 2024 as a means to “try and stop” the former President.
“At this point, I have not made a decision about 2024,” Cheney said. “I’ll make a decision on 2024 down the road.”
Rep. Liz Cheney on whether she might run for president in 2024:
“I’ll make a decision on 2024 down the road … As I said, I believe our nation stands on the edge of an abyss … We have to elect serious candidates.” pic.twitter.com/uq29j2V0Gf

She couldn’t stop him in Wyoming but thinks she’ll definitely be a force in the national Republican primary or as an Independent.
