A former New York senator is urging Hillary Clinton to stop attacking Bernie Sanders’ record on the Second Amendment, calling it a “red herring” and pointing out that she once ran as a very pro-gun candidate during her tenure in his state.
Finally pointing out the hypocrisy in Clinton’s anti-gun attacks, Duane simply stated “She should shut up about that.”

Prominent former New York State Senator Thomas Duane (D-NYC) issued a a rebuke to Hillary Clinton Wednesday night, suggesting her recent attacks on rival Bernie Sanders over his stance on the Second Amendment were disingenuous.
“When Hillary was running for Senate … she was like Annie Oakley,” said Duane, who represented New York City’s liberal Greenwich Village neighborhood until 2012.
“She was like shooting ducks,” he added. “Bill was shooting ducks. Some of them were caged ducks.”

“Does anyone seriously think… Bernie Sanders wants people with machine guns running around the city?” he asked. “She should shut up about that.”
“Put it to bed,” he added. “Don’t talk about it. Hillary stop. Stop. Don’t do it any more. Its a red herring. You shot ducks.”
Clinton’s husband, former President Bill Clinton, is featured in this Time Magazine photo gallery titled “Politicians Packing Heat,” holding two ducks which he just shot and killed.
In fact, even as presidential candidate in 2008, Clinton tried to stem the tide of a losing streak to then-Senator Barack Obama by telling a story about shooting ducks.
The Daily News reported on her story in 2008:
“I’ve hunted. My father taught me how to shoot,” she told a crowd at the Labor Temple in rural northern Wisconsin. “I remember standing in the cold water. It was so cold, you know, at first light. I was with a bunch of my friends, all men.
“And they all were playing a trick on me, and said, ‘We’re not going to shoot, you shoot,’ ’cause you know what they wanted to do. They wanted to embarrass me.
“So the pressure was on. So I shot, and I shot a banded duck.”
Her idea was to reassure gun owners that she’s all for the Second Amendment…
Now, four years later as the frontrunner, she’s trying to reassure her far-left base that she’s not all for the Second Amendment.
Duane is right to point out that the Hillary from eight years ago is different from the Hillary of four years ago, which is different from the Hillary of today. She is a panderer, and will say anything to get elected.
