Legendary Announcer Vin Scully on Protests: I’ll Never Watch Another NFL Game Again

It may no longer be ‘time for Dodger baseball’ this season, but it’s time to honor and respect legendary announcer Vin Scully for his stand against the NFL.

Scully said in the wake of players continuing their National Anthem protests, spitting on the service of our military members and veterans by kneeling during a solemn symbol of their sacrifice, that he “will never watch another NFL game.”

This past Sunday, the number of anthem protesters dropped throughout the league. But the damage has already been done for Scully.

“I have only one personal thought, really,” the Hall of Fame broadcaster said at an event called ‘An Evening With Vin Scully.’ “And I am so disappointed.”

“I used to love, during the fall and winter, to watch the NFL on Sunday,” he continued. “And it’s not that I’m some great patriot. I was in the Navy for a year — didn’t go anywhere, didn’t do anything.”

After his Navy stint, Scully went on to begin a legendary career of 67 years with the Los Angeles Dodgers, ending in 2016 when he retired. While he may downplay his patriotism, Scully’s admiration of our military men and women is patriotic in and of itself.

“I have overwhelming respect and admiration for anyone who puts on a uniform and goes to war,” Scully said. “So the only thing I can do in my little way is not to preach. I will never watch another NFL game.”

He’s not the only one who feels this way, as the league has suffered massive ratings and attendance hits since the ‘inmates started running the asylum.’

Check out this clip of Scully voicing his disdain for socialism during a baseball broadcast that earned quite a bit of attention during his final season.

Now his strong feelings on patriotism are resonating with the American people as well.

Well said, Mr. Scully.
