Laura Ingraham Courts Controversy by Calling Migrant Facilities ‘Summer Camps’

Fox News host Laura Ingraham is no stranger to controversy. When she’s said something provocative on air, she’s had to defend herself from leftist attacks, almost by rote.

If you remember back in April when Ingraham had the gall to attack Democrats’ favorite teeny-bopper gun-control advocate David Hogg, leftists ravenously started a boycott against her Fox show, targeting her advertisers. In light of the media-generated outcry over President Trump’s ‘zero tolerance’ immigration policy at the U.S.-Mexico border, Laura Ingraham decided to say something else controversial about the practice of separating families who attempt to cross the border illegally. Here’s what Ingraham said that’s drawing so much controversy:

“As more illegal immigrants are rushing the border, more kids are being separated from their parents. And temporarily housed at what are, essentially, summer camps.”

Immediately, liberals called out Ingraham on her phrasing, with her old nemesis Hogg taking the lead:

There were, of course, demands for another boycott:

Even Dictionary.com, the account of which is apparently being run by a Maoist acolyte, jumped in:

This is all sound and fury from a bunch of “woke” Twitter warriors who never said a damn word when Obama was stuffing migrant families in cages like packs of dogs. (RELATED: Trump’s ‘Zero Tolerance’ Immigration Policy Isn’t New – Obama Did the Same Thing).

If these critics truly cared, the would have been calling out our unproductive illegal immigrant detention practices long before this. Instead, they’re using the current situation as a cudgel to beat the Trump Administration.

Let’s make one thing clear: while American facilities for holding illegal immigrants are not ideal living environments, they are unquestionably better than the living conditions in many Central American countries beset with narco-gang violence. If it weren’t for the drug-fueled murder sprees infesting their homes, many of these migrants wouldn’t have made the treacherous journey to get here.

So, yes, in a sense, these holding facilities are like a summer camp. In fact, they’re a sanctuary from the violence we’re told is driving migrants to the U.S. in the first place.
