Laura Ingraham Calls For Halt to ALL Immigration During Coronavirus Crisis

Fox News host Laura Ingraham believes all immigration into the United States should be put on hold during the coronavirus crisis.

Aside from the obvious health issues at stake, Ingraham notes that Americans are about to suffer catastrophic job losses due to the economic situation being caused by a near nationwide shutdown of businesses.

“All foreign worker visas must be stopped,” she wrote in a social media post.

American Jobs

“All immigration to the US should be halted due to this national emergency – we sure as heck don’t need any foreign workers with millions of Americans on verge of losing their jobs,” Ingraham said.

She added the hashtag – #AmericaFirst.

The Fox personality shared an article by the Center for Immigration Studies which argues the administration should suspend admission of all temporary workers.

“Besides helping to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, shutting off the flow of visa workers will help get more Americans back to work,” they write. “This is an opportunity to see just how essential to our economy these visas really are.”

Trump Admin Responds

The White House has taken several actions regarding immigration in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.

On Tuesday, the State Department announced a temporary suspension of refugee resettlements, a response to the United Nations’ Refugee Agency announcing their own pause of the program.

And President Trump on Wednesday confirmed he would be halting the entry of foreign nationals at both the southern and northern borders.

Broad Support

The idea of halting immigration altogether has long been championed by author, Ann Coulter.

The current crisis befalling our nation has made the idea popular in the United States.

According to a poll out of Harvard University, nearly four in five voters like the idea of an “immigration halt” with the coronavirus becoming a pandemic.

By contrast, Democrat presidential frontrunner Joe Biden has suggested he would not enforce border security even in a time of crisis, arguing walls and travel bans “will not stop the coronavirus.”
