California Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris has signed a book deal with Penguin Books, feeding 2020 presidential run rumors that are already swirling around her.
The freshman senator’s book “The Truths We Hold: An American Journey” will come out in January, Penguin announced Tuesday, according to Politico.
Book deals — which can be quite lucrative — are par for the course for presidential hopefuls. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, a Democratic presidential candidate in 2016, made almost $1 million off his 2016 book “Our Revolution: A Future to Believe In.” Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren released her book “This Fight Is Our Fight” in 2017, and like Sanders and Harris, she is being watched as a potential presidential candidate for 2020.
“Through the arc of her own life, on into the great work of our day, she communicates a vision of shared struggle, shared purpose, and shared values,” Penguin said according to CNN.
The publisher also called the book “a master class in problem solving, in crisis management, and leadership in challenging times.” It will focus on “the core truths that unite us, and the long struggle to discern what those truths are and how best to act upon them, in her own life and across the life of our country.”
Harris has already written one book, “Smart on Crime,” which she published in 2009 before she became California attorney general in 2010.
