One of the women who, at the 11th hour, accused Judge Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct from decades ago allegedly has serious problems of her own. According to a new report, she has made serious sexual misconduct claims at her workplace and has apparently lied to employers about her background.
Represented by Stormy Daniels’ attorney and possible 2020 presidential candidate Michael Avenatti, Julie Swetnick faced these allegations after being sued by Webtrends, a Portland-based company where she was briefly employed in 2000.
In the lawsuit, Webtrends noted that Swetnick claimed she graduated from Johns Hopkins University even though they could find no record of her attending. She also allegedly made false accusations about her work history.
But wait, there’s more! The Oregonian reports:
The suit also alleges Swetnick “engaged in unwelcome, sexually offensive conduct” while at Webtrends and “made false and retaliatory allegations that other co-workers had engaged in inappropriate conduct toward her.”
The suit alleges Swetnick “engaged in unwelcome sexual innuendo and inappropriate conduct” directed at two male employees during a business lunch, with Webtrends customers present. Swetnick claimed two other employees had sexually harassed her, according to the suit.
Webtrends’ suit said it determined Swetnick had engaged in misconduct but could not find evidence to support her allegations against her colleagues. Later, the company alleged, Swetnick took medical leave and simultaneously claimed unemployment benefits in the District of Columbia.
The company never found evidence of the accusations of harassment she made against her co-workers, which she also threatened legal action against the company for. It’s also important to note that collecting unemployment benefits illegally is a serious crime.
Recently, The Wall Street Journal reported that Swetnick sued New York Life Insurance over alleged sexual misconduct, and she ironically used the same law firm run by Debra Katz, who is now representing Christine Blasey Ford.
We learned last week that her ex-boyfriend Richard Vinneccy, who once filed a restraining order against her, said “(Swetnick’s) not credible at all. Not at all.” In addition, famous legal professor Alan Dershowitz dismissed her allegations against Judge Kavanaugh and said her affidavit is “an embarrassment to the law.”
The lawsuit from Webtrends was ultimately dismissed, and Avenatti has called the allegations against her “completely bogus.”
