President Trump Fires Personal Assistant John McEntee

John McEntee

Yet another contestant in the extended series of The Apprentice, White House Edition, has heard the dreaded words “You’re Fired.”

First there was Secretary of State Rex Tillerson this morning. Now we have another.

This time it’s 27-year-old John McEntee, President Trump’s personal assistant, who was canned and escorted out of the White House yesterday. A White House official told the Wall Street Journal that it was an “unspecified security issue,” but CNN is reporting that McEntee is being investigated for financial crimes by the Department of Homeland Security.

“It’s not going to be great for morale,” one White House official said about his departure. Sarah Huckabee Sanders wouldn’t address the situation, stating, “We don’t comment on personnel issues.”

However, McEntee is going to be reassigned within the administration, not entirely kicked to the curb. That position has yet to be announced. According to the Journal: “Mr. McEntee wasn’t as well known as the others, but had been a constant presence at Mr. Trump’s side for the past three years. He made sure Mr. Trump had markers to sign autographs, delivered messages to him in the White House residence and, over the weekend, ensured that the clocks in the White House residence were adjusted for daylight-saving time.”

McEntee was one of Trump’s longest serving aides.

According to CNBC,

The news of McEntee’s firing came just minutes after reports that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had beenbooted after more than a year as America’s top diplomat.

McEntee has joined the Trump re-election campaign as a senior advisor, the campaign said in a release.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

“We’re getting very close to having the Cabinet and other things that I want,” Trump said outside the White House.

Who is going to be next?

Let’s get a betting pool started in the comments!
