On Wednesday, President Joe Biden dismissed recent polls that showed a large of Americans believed he was not mentally fit.
A Politico/Morning Consult poll from November showed that 48% of Americans believe Biden is mentally unfit, while 46% believe he is mentally fit.
A more recent poll from this week showed a large change in those numbers, with only 40% believing Biden is mentally fit, and 49% disagreeing.
The president made his remarks during a press conference at the White House.

Newsmax reporter James Rosen cited a new Morning Consult poll, in which only 40 percent of voters believe Biden is mentally fit.
A mere 37 percent say Biden is in good health. Only 43 percent believe the president is stable.
Rosen asked:
“I’d like to raise a delicate subject, but with utmost respect for your life accomplishments and the high office you hold. A poll released this morning by Politico Morning Consult found 49 percent of registered voters disagreeing with the statement Joe Biden is mentally fit. A majority of Democrats who responded strongly affirmed that statement.”
“I’ll let you all make the judgment whether they’re correct,” Biden said.
Rosen followed up, asking Biden why he believes a majority of Americans would believe he is not mentally fit: “Why do you suppose such large segments of the American electorate have come to harbor such profound concerns about your cognitive fitness?”
Biden responded, “I have no idea.”

Mentally Fit… By The Numbers
The Politico poll shows concerning numbers among some demographics.
Among Democrats, only 43% strongly agree that Biden is mentally fit. Among Republicans, that number falls to just 7%.
Interestingly, only 43% of people who voted for Biden in 2020 strongly agree that he is mentally fit, yet 48% of those who voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 strongly agree.
Among black Americans, only 31% strongly agree.
Among Christians, that number falls again to only 22%. Even government employees only give Biden 23%.
