Jimmy Kimmel Bashes Men at 2018 Oscars

Last night’s Oscars quickly became a virtue-signaling extravaganza, with host Jimmy Kimmel telling the audience that he wished he was a woman when he closed out the night.

Of the golden statue that was being awarded that night, Kimmel said: “Oscar is the most beloved and respected man in Hollywood, and there’s a very good reason why. Just look at him. Keeps his hands where you can see them, never says a rude word, and, most importantly, no penis at all. He is literally a statue of limitations.”

“And that’s the kind of men we need more of in this town,” he added.

If he literally means “this town,” he might have a point. A recent survey of 843 women by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center found that 94 percent of women employed in Hollywood say they’ve experienced sexual harassment or assault “by an older individual in a position of power.” That’s certainly not the case in any other industry.

He had a few other male-bashing comments that were directed at all men – when they’re only applicable to those in his industry. Of the movie “The Shape of Water,” in which a woman saves an aquatic monster, Kimmel told director Guillermo del Toro: “Congratulations… You made a beautiful movie and thanks to Guillermo we will always remember this year as the year men screwed up so badly, women started dating fish.”

Men in Hollywood certainly “screwed up so badly,” but I’m not sure why Kimmel is lumping half the population in with them.

Greg Gutfeld has a pretty amusing summary of the awards ceremony, noting that it had more to do with self-aggrandizement than the movies that were being awarded.

The broadcast lasted nearly four hours, and attracted significantly fewer viewers compared to last year. The 8 p.m.-11 p.m. portion of ABC’s telecast “averaged an 18.9 household rating and 32 share in Nielsen’s metered market overnight ratings, which cover about 70% of U.S. TV households.” That represents a decrease of 16% from the 22.5/37 rating generated by the 2017 Oscars.

Our president has a word for that: sad!

Do you think the Oscars are pathetic? Did you watch the broadcast? Tell us your thoughts below!
