Attorney General Jeff Sessions Asks 46 Obama Attorneys to Resign

**UPDATE 3 pm March 11th**

US Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara has announced he has been fired for refusing to resign when asked. No doubt he and the liberal media will use this to condemn Trump. But this is all standard procedure, Presidents ask for the resignation of previous administration officials. Bharara chose to make a big spectacle of this and try to make a bigger name for himself.

It appears that a maverick US Attorney, New York’s Preet Bharara is refusing to resign and is going to force Trump to fire him! Bharara is a known political grandstander and is no-doubt using this incident to raise his own political profile. He’s trying to make himself a martyr, like other Obama appointees.

Conservative have already noted the hypocritical way the liberal media is covering this issue.

It’s the Friday Night Massacre!

During the 2016 presidential campaign, then-candidate Donald J. Trump pledged to “drain the swamp” of bureaucrats and career politicians that have polluted Washington, D.C. and the entire country.

Now, we’re really getting started – Attorney General Jeff Sessions has just asked 46 U.S. attorneys appointed by Barack Obama, to help ensure a “uniform transition.”

From Fox News:

The department said some U.S. attorneys, as in prior transitions, already had left the department. Now, “the Attorney General has now asked the remaining 46 presidentially appointed U.S. Attorneys to tender their resignations,” a spokeswoman said.

“Until the new U.S. Attorneys are confirmed, the dedicated career prosecutors in our U.S. Attorney’s Offices will continue the great work of the Department in investigating, prosecuting, and deterring the most violent offenders,” the statement added.

It is customary, though not automatic, for the country’s 93 U.S. attorneys to leave their positions once a new president is in office. Incoming administrations over the past several decades typically have replaced most U.S. attorneys during the first year or two.

Democrats are likely going to complain that Attorney General Sessions has asked for Obama holdovers to resign rather than remain in office and obstruct President Trump’s agenda. Just last month, Democrats freaked out after the president fired acting-Attorney General Sally Yates, an Obama holdover, for refusing to enforce the president’s travel ban, so it’s not unreasonable for Sessions to ask those with different values and political views to step down now.

Expect the left, and their liberal media allies, to cry foul for breaking political tradition, even though he has every right to ask Obama appointees to step down so his own team can be in place.

As for us, Go Trump!
