Former FBI Director James Comey’s daughter, Maurene Comey, will serve as lead prosecutor in the sex-trafficking trial of Ghislaine Maxwell, a British socialite accused of serving as a madam for deceased accused child sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
Ms. Comey had also served as part of a team of federal prosecutors in the Epstein case.
Epstein was convicted of procuring for prostitution a girl below the age of 18 in 2008 and was facing sex trafficking charges until he died, according to authorities by suicide, in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019.
Maxwell is accused of recruiting and grooming four underage girls for Epstein between 1994 and 2004.
Her trial gets underway Monday with opening statements and is expected to last until mid-January.

Comey’s Daughter Prosecuting Ghislaine Maxwell
Business Insider is providing a primer on Maurene Comey, one of three lead prosecutors in the Ghislaine Maxwell trial.
They report that she has mostly avoided the spotlight, unlike her father, but has been involved in some high-profile cases including the prosecutions of ex-gynecologist Robert Hadden and Treasury Department whistleblower Natalie Edwards.
The outlet also notes some curious facts regarding former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
“Comey’s only political donations were $233 to Hilary Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2015, according to campaign finance transparency site OpenSecrets.org,” they write.
Not an earth-shattering amount by any stretch, but a donation nonetheless.
Business Insider also references an ABC interview in which James Comey stated that his wife and daughters “marched in the Women’s March the day after President Trump’s inauguration.”
That’s the one where women wore hats meant to look like vaginas.
“I’m pretty sure that at least my four daughters, probably all five of my kids, wanted Hillary Clinton to be the first woman president,” he said.

High-Profile Democrats Involved
Is there an issue with having a member of a partisan family serving as prosecutor for a sex-trafficking trial with players linked to numerous high-profile names – many of whom are Democrats?
For instance, former President Bill Clinton, the husband of the younger Comey’s preference for President, had traveled on Epstein’s jet – known as the ‘Lolita Express’ – 26 separate times, according to a Fox News analysis.
Other analyses of flight logs led to claims of fewer trips, but there is no denying he traveled on the plane.
Following Epstein’s arrest in 2019, Clinton’s press secretary Angel Ureña tweeted a statement in which the former President admitted to taking a “total of four trips” on the billionaire’s private plane.

The judge in the Ghislaine Maxwell sex-trafficking trial is also an appointee of former President Barack Obama and stands to be promoted to a position on a federal appeals court by President Biden.

The judge is an Obama-Biden appointee.

Maurene Comey and her fellow prosecutors in the Epstein case, according to the Washington Post, revealed that video from outside Epstein’s jail cell on a day he allegedly attempted to kill himself before succeeding “no longer exists” because of “technical errors.”

James Comey as FBI Director famously cleared Hillary Clinton following an investigation into the former Secretary of State’s use of a private email server.
Serving as the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York under President George W. Bush, the elder Comey took over the investigation into President Clinton’s controversial pardon of financier Marc Rich.
Comey concluded that the pardon involved no illegality.
“Despite evidence that several pardon recipients, including Rich, had connections to donations to Bill Clinton’s presidential library and Hillary Clinton’s 2000 Senate campaign, Comey found no criminal wrongdoing,” Time Magazine reported.
Comey, of course, was also one of the major players in the thoroughly debunked Russia collusion investigation.
