James Comey Says He’s Like ‘A Breakup [Trump] Can’t Get Over’

James Comey Trump break up

Earlier this week, James Comey revealed that his entire family supported or voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.“I didn’t take a poll among all the kids, but I’m pretty sure that at least my four daughters, probably all five of my kids, wanted Hillary Clinton to be the first woman president,” James Comey said.

“My wife and girls marched in the Women’s March the day after President Trump’s inauguration,” he continued.

“There was a lotta passion in this house for Hillary Clinton,” Comey told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos as he tried to make the point that he “wasn’t making decisions based on political fortunes.”

Patrice Comey told ABC, “I wanted a woman president really badly, and supported Hillary Clinton. A lot of my friends worked for her, and I was devastated when she lost.”

Appearing on “Late Night with Stephen Colbert” last night, Comey made it clear that he’s in the same camp. “He’s tweeted at me probably 50 times,” Comey said of Trump. “I’ve been gone for a year, I’m like the breakup he can’t get over. He wakes up in the morning … I’m out there living my best life, he wakes up in the morning and tweets at me.”

That’s some interesting projection, given that Comey just wrote an entire book about the events leading up to that “breakup.”

Comey reiterated his point that he felt like he was working for a “mob boss” in the Trump administration, to which Colbert asked if he was surprised when he got “whacked.”

“I actually was quite surprised, because I thought, ‘I’m leading the Russia investigation.’ Even though our relationship was becoming strained, there’s no way I’m going to get fired or whacked,” Comey explained.

“Why? Why wouldn’t you get fired?” inquired further.

“Because that would be a crazy thing to do. Why would you fire the FBI director who is leading the Russia investigation?” Comey asked.

The answer to Comey’s question is quite simple – because the Russia investigation he started was a witch hunt. Comey let Hillary Clinton off the hook at the conclusion of the FBI’s investigation into her use of a private email server – and recently admitted that he only re-opened it briefly before the election to validate her “inevitable” presidency.
