It’s Getting Ugly Out There For Democrats: ‘Squad’ Member Cori Bush Pulls Race Card On Joe Manchin

It's Getting Ugly Out There For Democrats! Cori Bush Pulls Race Card On Joe Manchin

The Democrat playbook used to be so cut and dried. They could usually get everyone on the same page, and when it looked like the Republicans were winning, just accuse them of cheating or call them racists. Boom. Done.

Today’s Democrats however, have a problem. They are plagued with a few within their own ranks who might be described as free thinkers, at least as free thinking as you can be and still call yourself a Democrat.

Manchin Gets Race Card Treatment

As Democrats attempt to ram through Congress their multi-trillion dollar spending bills that will invite government literally into every facet of life for the average American, their two obstacles have been Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ).

Manchin has remained fairly consistent in balking at the size of the bills, saying the most he would support would be $1.5 trillion. It has not made him any friends in the Democrat Party, especially among progressives.

On Monday, Manchin refused to throw in with his fellow Democrats on a hammered out deal of $1.75 trillion for the bill that had a chance to be voted on this week. This sent Squad member Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) frantically searching her pockets for the race card. As always, she found it.

“Joe Manchin’s opposition to the Build Back Better Act is anti-Black, anti-child, anti-woman and anti-immigrant. Senator Manchin must support the Build Back Better Act.”

Enter The Squad

We have all witnessed and heard the antics and child-like statements of the original ‘Squad’ members, (AOC, Ilhan Omar, etc.), but Bush, a newer addition, is even more aggressive.

Bush was not done with Manchin yet. In fact, for Cori Bush, Joe Manchin is her favorite punching bag, after all, he is a straight white male. And he comes from West Virginia, a place full of straight white males. Hold on to your hats, she was just getting started.

“Joe Manchin does not get to dictate the future of our country. I do not trust his assessment of what our communities need the most. I trust the parents in my district who can’t get to their shift without childcare.

I trust the scientists who have shown us what our future will look like if we fail to meaningfully address the climate crisis. I trust the patients and doctors crying out for comprehensive health coverage for every person in America.”

The late great Rush Limbaugh like to say that one of liberals’ favorite phrases was, “women and minorities hardest hit” when rambling on about this issue or that.

Cori Bush did not disappoint: “Black, brown and Indigenous communities” that would benefit from the spending plan “are overwhelmingly excluded from the bipartisan infrastructure bill.”

Manchin Not Speaking A Language Democrats Understand

During a press conference on Monday explaining his position, Manchin said the authors of the bill were “using shell games and gimmicks” to mask “the real cost” of the bill, which he said might go “twice as high” if some programs in the bill would be extended.

But then he voiced concern over something Democrats ignore. Manchin raised concerns of “hurting American families suffering from historic inflation” and would not vote on the bill until he had “understanding the impact it will have on our national debt.”

This is actually displaying some semblance of fiscal responsibility. Cori Bush has no doubt learned quickly from the likes of Nancy Pelosi and her Squad cohorts that it isn’t “real” money, think of it as more like Monopoly money.

When a prime target like Joe Manchin appears, Cori Bush can’t help herself. If she could, she might address the fact that the crime rate in her district is soaring, and the population is tanking, and that businesses fled the district long before COVID-19 hit.

Instead, we get ‘Joe Manchin is a racist for not spending trillions we don’t have.’
