The IRS’ targeting of conservative organizations during the Obama administration was one of the most embarrassing scandals of the last 8 years, yet few were held accountable.
Lois Lerner, who ran the IRS’ Exempt Organizations Unit, became the poster child for the scandal, but received no punishment for her role in the systematic targeting of conservative non-profits.
Fortunately, conservatives are not remaining quiet, and are pushing for President Trump to fire IRS Commissioner John Koskinen, and clean out Obama’s influence on the IRS.

An off-the-record White House meeting with roughly two dozen conservative leaders Wednesday included explicit calls for President Trump to fire IRS Commissioner John Koskinen, according to a source in the room.
White House conservative liaison Paul Teller organized the meeting Wednesday between Trump staffers and leaders of conservative groups such as the Heritage Foundation and Judicial Watch. Talk of Koskinen’s firing was part of a larger discussion on clearing out Obama-era personnel from the executive branch where possible, the source said.
The broad consensus among attendees was that Trump needs to clean out Obama-era bureaucrats if he is going to be successful in pushing through his agenda.

The House of Representatives came close to impeaching Koskinen last winter, but stopped short of doing so. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell called on Trump to replace Koskinen during an interview with The Hill in January. “I think he’s been a disaster and I’d be shocked if we don’t have a new one,” McConnell said.
For months, conservatives have had their sights set on Koskinen, with members of the House seeking to impeach the Obama appointee. Under Koskinen’s watch, the IRS stonewalled Congress’ investigation into the agency’s targeting of conservative groups. In fact, the IRS didn’t even bother to ask for Lois Lerner’s “missing” emails that would have been crucial in establishing the extent of her role in the IRS’ targeting of conservative groups.
It’s time for justice.
