In Wake Of Inauguration, Liberal Media To Gather To Plot Coverage Of Trump Administration

Donald Trump

Just days after President Donald J. Trump is inaugurated, members of the liberal media will huddle together to plot their attacks on his administration.

The Hill reports:

Journalists from The Huffington Post, Slate and Univision will gather days before(sic) Donald Trump’s inauguration to publicly discuss  “how the news media can and should proceed to cover” the president-elect.

Slate will host the event next Wednesday, called “Not the New Normal.” CNN’s Brian Stelter will moderate the panel at New York University.

Gee, that won’t be at all biased!

As you’ll recall, the liberal Huffington Post infamously included this Editor’s Note after every article on Trump during the campaign: “Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.”

Slate is a liberal rag that supported BuzzFeed’s fake news report and Univision has even been protested by Hispanics for its liberal, anti-Trump bias.

Trump recently called out CNN as fake news, but Brian Stelter has exposed his own anti-Trump bias when he pushed calling Trump “authoritarian:” “I talk to international correspondents who say to you, ‘This is exactly what authoritarians do. This is what strongmen do. This is what happens in authoritarian regimes.’ I think we need to start using those words on TV, at least, to discuss the possibilities before us.”

The focus of the discussion will include “how journalists and media companies at large can play a bigger role in making sure that fact prevails over fiction in the coming months and years,” according to Slate.

Suddenly they care about facts? Where were they during the Obama years? Obama and his administration were the biggest sources of fake news and the media fawningly covered for him. Same for Hillary.

Although, saying the media “can play a bigger role” is pretty much an admission that they failed in that role the previous 8 years. It shouldn’t have to take a president to the right to make the media remember its role to report the truth. Not that they will actually report the truth, BuzzFeed and CNN proved that. They just will publish their own opinions disguised as “facts.” I mean, just look at who they’ve put on the panel.

Slate’s editor-in-chief, Julia Turner, and Slate Group Chairman Jacob Weisberg — who hosts “Trumpcast,” a podcast dedicated to covering the president-elect — will participate in the panel.

Joining them will be Borja Echevarría, Univision Digital’s vice president and editor-in-chief; Huffington Post editor-in-chief Lydia Polgreen; and New Yorker editor David Remnick.

A panel of leftists indeed. Just before the election, Jacob Weisberg talked about the false equivalency of comparing Hillary to Trump – he said it’s not even comparing apples to oranges, it’s “more like an apple and some rancid meat… [Trump’s] the rancid meat, and in all sorts of ways. And what I think the press is struggling with is, “How do you not normalize him, but at the same time be fair and do your job as a journalist?””

David Remnick once denigrated the Republican Party on CNN, “I think the sources of what you could call ‘Obama derangement syndrome’ are largely about race… We have a party that has been using the racial dog whistle since at least the Southern Strategy moment of the Nixon campaign.”

Most of the panelists were staunchly critical of Trump during the campaign and have remained so since Election Day.

Nice of The Hill to actually mention this.

Tickets will cost $30, with proceeds benefiting the Committee to Protect Journalists.

The Committee to Protect Journalists just happens to be the organization Meryl Streep plugged during her anti-Trump diatribe at the Golden Globes. CPJ has been anti-Trump for some time, even breaking with their own traditions to protest Trump.

This is the first time Slate has hosted a panel to discuss how to cover an incoming president.

Shocking. Just more evidence of media bias. They should have done this when Obama was the incoming president, they could have discussed how not to so publicly praise him and instead actually be fair and hold him accountable. Maybe things would have been different if the press had done the job they say they will do with Trump.

With this powwow, the media is betraying its intention to attack Trump – expect even more BuzzFeed-like fake news hit pieces to come.
