Ilhan Omar Slams Reporters For Harassing People Who Donated To Freedom Convoy Truckers

Far-left Representative Ilhan Omar criticized reporters who are targeting and harassing donors to the Canadian trucker ‘Freedom Convoy.’

The crowdfunding website GiveSendGo recently had data breached by hackers who have been circulating the donation lists on social media.

“So, Here’s The GiveSendGo Donor List,” Canadian radio personality Dean Blundell tweeted. He included a link to a spreadsheet of names and email addresses of those who gave funds to the protest.

Additionally, the CBC and Ottawa Citizen shared articles that contained information from the hack. Other reporters began disseminating the information.

Ilhan Omar Defends Freedom Convoy Donors

The media took the hacked information and acted exactly as you’d expect them to – like jackals.

An editor at the Ottawa Citizen shared a report about Stella Luna Gelato Cafe in Ottawa, which had to close down earlier this week after receiving continued threats due to their owner’s name appearing on the donor list.

Washington Post investigative reporter Aaron Davis took things to a different level, posting a lengthy thread focused on the biggest donor to the ‘Freedom Convoy’ along with a map showing where the donations came from in the United States.

And from there, it got worse.

Breaking Points co-host Saagar Enjeti tweeted an email purportedly from a Washington Post reporter asking somebody who donated a mere $40 to the convoy why they would dare to do so.

And She’s Right

Omar (D-MN) responded directly to Ottawa Citizen editor Allison Mah who shared the story of the cafe owner that now, after being doxxed and receiving threats from unhinged people, “regrets making her $250 donation to the truck convoy.”

“I fail to see why any journalist felt the need to report on a shop owner making such a[n] insignificant donation rather than to get them harassed,” Omar replied.

“It’s unconscionable and journalists need to do better.”

It’s not very often I agree with Omar, but her take on unethical journalists harassing private citizens who make donations to causes they believe in – like the freedom convoy – is spot on.

And she wasn’t done there, further criticizing reporters in a pair of follow-up tweets.

“I wish journalists wrote the articles they think they are writing. Sorry to say it, but your stories aren’t always balanced and often have a clear political bias,” added Omar.

“Calling it out isn’t harassment or journalist bashing. Everyone has a right to critique your story and it’s merits.”

She would go on to insist she read the article in question “multiple times” and couldn’t find any reason for it to have been published “other than further harassment.”

It might be a long while before Omar has a similar moment of clarity and shares it with the world.

Enjoy it. Soak it up. Appreciate it for what it’s worth.
