Rep. Ilhan Omar Defends Terrorist Attack – It’s Not the First Time

Resurfaced video shows Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar defending the actions of those behind a terrorist attack in 2013, stating it was “a reaction” to “our involvement in other people’s affairs.”

In the video, Omar is questioned during a local television interview about the deadly brutal al-Shabab attack on a Kenyan shopping mall in 2013 that resulted in 71 total deaths and wounded approximately 200 people.

“When are we gonna decide or realize that terrorism is a reaction?” the host asked Omar, an activist at the time. “It’s an ideology, it’s a means of things, it’s not an entity, it’s not a place, people. It’s a reaction to a situation.”

She agreed with the assessment, stating “nobody wants to take accountability of how these are byproducts of the actions of our involvement in other people’s affairs.”

“Nobody wants to face how the actions of the other people that are involved in the world have contributed to the rise of the radicalization and the rise of terrorist acts,” she added.

It is a concept that is commonplace with the radical left, which has suggested all the way back to 9/11 days that terrorists are simply misunderstood and reacting to American influence in their homelands.

Shockingly, it’s not the first time Omar has offered sympathy for terrorists.

Defended Men Trying to Join ISIS

Just over a week ago, reports surfaced that Omar, as a Minnesota state representative, asked a judge to show leniency toward a group of men accused and convicted of trying to join ISIS.

One of the individuals explained his motives for wanting to join the deadly terrorist organization.

“I was not going there to pass out medical kits or food,” he said. “I was going strictly to fight and kill on behalf of the Islamic State.”

In response to that, Omar urged a judge to show compassion towards the men.

“The best deterrent to fanaticism is a system of compassion,” Omar wrote in a letter to the judge presiding over the case. “We must alter our attitude and approach; if we truly want to effect change, we should refocus our efforts on inclusion and rehabilitation.”

Sound Familiar?

Blaming America for attacks and sympathizing with terrorists is right out of the Hillary Clinton playbook.

In December of 2014, Clinton gave a speech at Georgetown University in which she told supporters we should “empathize” with America’s enemies.

“Using every possible tool and partner to advance peace and security. Leaving no one on the sidelines,” she advised as her foreign-policy stance.

“Showing respect even for one’s enemies. Trying to understand, in so far as psychologically possible, empathize with their perspective and point of view.”

Two very dangerous viewpoints from two Democrat politicians. Might be a good time to remind everyone that Nancy Pelosi willingly chose Omar to represent her party on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
