House Minority Leader Calls On Adam Schiff to Step Down as Intel Chair

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is calling on Adam Schiff to step down from his post as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.

Schiff spent a good portion of the time, while special counsel Robert Mueller investigated alleged Russian collusion, espousing conspiracy theories and using his own position as one of authority to promote false accusations against the President.

McCarthy believes the California Democrat needs to explain his actions to the American people, and he should do so while stepping away from his role as chairman.

“He owes the American public an apology,” McCarthy said Monday.

“Schiff has met the standard that he has imposed on other members of Congress of when they should step back from their positions,” he claimed. “He has exceeded that standard, and there is no question he should step down from the Intel chairmanship.”

The likelihood of Schiff admitting to his wrongdoings remains slim, as he pushes forward with further investigations into the Trump campaign’s contacts with Russia this week.

Schiff Pushed the Hoax For Two Years

Schiff has been pushing the Russia hoax for quite some time and using his position of power as a means to lend credence to the claims.

“Look, there’s clear evidence of an attempt to collude,” he told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer in December of 2017.

In August of 2018, he told CBS This Morning, “I think there’s plenty of evidence of collusion.”

Three months prior, he claimed the Russia collusion case was “of a size and scope probably beyond Watergate.”

Schiff himself concocted his own conspiracy theory, alleging that Donald Trump Jr. had phoned his father about a meeting seeking dirt from the Russians on Hillary Clinton during the 2016 campaign.

“We wanted to get the phone records to determine, was Donald Trump talking to his son about this meeting,” Schiff told CNN during an interview in November.

“It’s an obvious investigative step, but one the Republicans were unwilling to take because they were afraid of where the evidence might lead.”

That evidence eventually proved Trump Jr. had called longtime family friends, not his father, putting Schiff’s conspiracy to rest.

Schiff Should Be Investigated for Collusion

Perhaps it’s Schiff who should be investigated for trying to collude with a foreign government to affect the outcome of an election.

Recall, if you will, the time Schiff was duped by comedians posing as a Ukrainian member of Parliament promising dirt on President Trump, even going so far as to arrange for staff to collect “classified” material for the FBI.

Schiff, again the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, was led to believe he was taking a call from a foreign country to collect information about an American president.

“I’ll be in touch with the FBI about this,” Schiff said, thinking he was talking to foreign agents. “And we’ll make arrangements with your staff. I think it probably would be best to provide these materials both to our committee and to the FBI.”

Schiff also appeared on a news station he once described as “the Kremlin’s propaganda outfit” to discuss efforts to make the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court more transparent.

More Calls For Him to Step Down

McCarthy isn’t the only one calling on the tinfoil hat-wearing Democrat to step down.

Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw excoriated Schiff, saying “You. Have. Been. Exposed.”

“You used your unique position on the Intel Cmte to convince the American people that you had access to evidence of collusion,” Crenshaw added. “You lied and misled in order to pursue your political agenda. Move on.”

Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway wants him to not only step down from the committee but suggests Schiff needs to resign.

“Adam Schiff – talk about an oxymoron – this man heads the Intelligence Committee in the House!” Conway mocked.

“He ought to resign today,” she said, adding that he “has been on every TV show 50 times a day for practically the last two years, promising Americans that this president would be impeached or indicted.”

Fox News host Tucker Carlson said that Schiff, along with Rep. Eric Swalwell, should resign in disgrace.

“We saw strong evidence of collusion … I think that’s clear collusion,” Swalwell asserted during an interview on CNN.

“How can Eric Swalwell and Adam Schiff keep their seats in the House of Representatives?” Carlson asked. “They should resign.”
