Hillary Clinton Says DOJ Investigation Would Be an ‘Abuse of Power’

Weeks after President Donald Trump questioned why the Department of Justice isn’t looking into the Uranium One scandal, the department announced Monday that they are looking into whether to appoint a special counsel to examine the Clinton Foundation’s alleged role in the deal.

It’s about time; lawmakers have been calling for an investigation into the Uranium One deal for years. According to a 2015 Daily Mail report, the Clinton Foundation allegedly received more than $2 million in kickbacks while the State Department – which was then headed up by Hillary Clinton – approved the control of a large swath of American uranium to Russia-linked energy company Uranium One. According to legal analysts, Clinton could be charged with 13 potential crimes related to the deal.

But according to Clinton, a special investigation into the deal would be an “abuse of power” by the DOJ.

This is ridiculous. Back during the height of the email scandal, Clinton made up tons of excuses – and the FBI made excuses for her – to keep from being investigated and prosecuted, and now she’s doing the same for Uranium One.

But perhaps the most ridiculous thing about the above interview is that she tries to use Rep. Trey Gowdy’s words against him as proof that there’s no basis for a special investigation into the Uranium One deal. On the contrary, Gowdy wants the DOJ to keep justice blind – and that’s precisely what they’re doing by investigating whether there should be a special counsel appointed to investigate Uranium One.

But the fact of the matter is that Clinton, the most corrupt of them all, believes she’s above the law.

It’s high time Clinton was held accountable for her actions, and hopefully the Justice Department agrees.
