It has just been revealed that disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, who just began a 23-year prison sentence for rape, has tested positive for coronavirus. “He tested positive and is quarantined,” a source told Daily Mail.

Weinstein is reportedly being kept in isolation at Wende Correctional Facility in Western New York. He arrived there last Wednesday from the infamous Rikers Island, where a number of prisoners have tested positive for the virus, and immediately told prison staffers that he believed he had it as well. He is one of two inmates who have tested positive for coronavirus at the Wende facility so far.

This comes after New York City was hit with the largest prison outbreak of coronavirus in the nation last week, with 38 Rikers Island prisoners coming down with the illness.

Michael Powers, president of the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association (NYSCOPBA), told the Niagara Gazette that he could not comment on Weinstein’s medical situation. “There is no better breeding ground for this virus than a closed environment such as a correctional facility,” he added.

Actress Rose McGowan, one of Weinstein’s many sexual assault accusers, took to Twitter on Sunday evening to address his diagnosis. “Dear Harvey, In your darkest hour, repent. And in your lightest moment set yourself free,” she wrote.

Weinstein was an Academy Award-winning producer who was considered to be one of the most powerful men in Hollywood and a top donor to the Democratic Party before numerous women came forward to accuse him of rape and sexual assault over the past few years. His prison sentence is for raping a young actress in 2013 and performing oral sex on a production assistant back in 2006.
