A Harvard scientist claims her colleagues were afraid of voicing support for the Wuhan lab leak theory, a possible origin for the coronavirus pandemic, because they were afraid of being “associated with Trump.”

The comments tend to indicate that experts were guided more by politics than their allegiance to ‘the Science.’

Alina Chan, a postdoctoral associate at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard University who specializes in genetic engineering, is one of 18 researchers who published a letter in the journal Science last month calling for a more in-depth investigation into the virus’s origin.

“Theories of accidental release from a lab and zoonotic spillover both remain viable,” the letter reads. “Knowing how COVID-19 emerged is critical for informing global strategies to mitigate the risk of future outbreaks.”

That is true whether the discussion is today, last month when the letter was published, or last year when the pandemic was peaking.

But what Chan told NBC News illuminates the fact that scientists were pressured away from following their naturally curious minds. Why? Because they were afraid.

Harvard Scientist Admits Fear of Trump Kept Experts From Pursuing Wuhan Lab Leak Theory

NBC News profiled Chan for a piece in which they clearly state the Wuhan lab leak theory and the theory that COVID-19 began naturally are both viable, but neither have definitive proof backing them up at this point.

What followed from the Harvard scientist, however, should be a shock to readers and legitimizes many Trump supporters who weren’t on board with ‘the Science’ during the pandemic.

“Chan said there had been trepidation among some scientists about publicly discussing the lab leak hypothesis for fear that their words could be misconstrued or used to support racist rhetoric about how the coronavirus emerged,” NBC wrote.

In other words, they didn’t want to follow the data because of how relentless the left is in portraying anything involving Trump as racist. We heard time and again how defining the origin of the virus as being from China or Wuhan was xenophobic.

“At the time, it was scarier to be associated with Trump and to become a tool for racists, so people didn’t want to publicly call for an investigation into lab origins,” she said.

‘The Science’ is dead in America.

While reports indicated Chinese scientists trying to warn the world about the origins of the pandemic were “silenced and disappeared,” at least one Harvard scientist believes her colleagues were tucking tail because they didn’t want to enrage race-obsessed freaks on the left.

Chan Responds

Chan took to social media to respond to outrage from Trump supporters who see her comments as vindication for their skepticism of ‘the Science.’

She claimed she was on the receiving end of “angry tweets” over the quote in the NBC News article.

“Best to clarify before it escalates,” she wrote. “I publicly raised the lab leak hypothesis in Mar 2020 and have been pushing for an investigation for more than a year.”

The Harvard scientist went on to say those sending her angry messages are “writing to the wrong person” and justified the fear of being associated with Trump because “it’s normal to be afraid to wade into a politically toxic situation.”

Chan’s claims seem to be deflecting towards others in her field as she does, as was argued, have a history of suggesting the Wuhan lab leak theory was plausible.

But you can’t throw the scientific community under the bus as a collective group of cowards and not expect pushback.

The Wuhan lab leak is fast becoming a theory worth revisiting but was shunned during much of former President Trump’s time in office.

Sources familiar with a classified report informed the Wall Street Journal earlier this month that a U.S. government national laboratory concluded in May of 2020 that the Wuhan lab leak hypothesis was “plausible and deserves further investigation.”

They too must have been afraid of pursuing the truth because of ‘orange man bad’ groupthink.

Everybody’s favorite scientific source of information during the pandemic, Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, frequently downplayed the theory.

Fauci stated that “most people hold by” the belief that the virus came from a bat in the Wuhan market rather than a lab.

Last month, however, Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee said there is “significant circumstantial evidence” that the COVID-19 outbreak emanated from a Wuhan Institute of Virology leak.

The New York Times also reported on the Biden administration’s call for further investigation into the virus’ origins, claiming it shows “the administration takes seriously the possibility that the virus was accidentally leaked from a lab.”

For well over a year, Americans were asked to ‘trust the Sciene’ or ‘follow the Science’ by media and Democrats who treated their word as gospel.

Chan comes along and peels back the curtain to reveal that a general feeling amongst scientists had permeated that they didn’t want to be associated with the President of the United States, and they may have based decisions or refrained from public statements based on that fear.

Living in fear of what others might think instead of following truth and facts makes one a political actor, not a scientist.

And the damage done to America and the world is incalculable.
