Grieving Military Widow Says Biden Meeting Felt ‘Scripted’ And ‘Shallow’

Grieving Military Widow After Meeting Biden: 'Total Disregard To The Loss Of Our Marine'

The Washington Post reported on Sunday that President Joe Biden met privately with family members of the 13 U.S. soldiers killed in the recent Kabul bombing, “including some who have expressed anger at him.”

Biden met with the families on Sunday as their remains returned to the United States in a process known as “dignified transfer,” in which presidents usually are present.

However, the Post reports that not all the meetings went well.

‘They Did Not Want To Speak With The Man They Held Responsible For McCollum’s Death’

The Post did give the details of one encounter with family members who were angry and even blamed Biden for the loss of their loved one.

The Post reported, “Some family members of the dead service members remained angry with him, including the family of Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Rylee McCollum, one of the 13 Americans who died last week.”

“One of McCollum’s sisters, Roice, said she and her sister and her father joined McCollum’s wife, Jiennah McCollum, on the trip,” the report continued. “But when it came time to meet with the president, they left the room, because she said they did not want to speak with the man they held responsible for McCollum’s death.”

WaPo added, “Only Jiennah, who is expecting the couple’s child next month, stayed. But she left disappointed, Roice said. The president brought up his son, Beau, according to her account, describing his son’s military service and subsequent death from cancer.”

“It struck the family as scripted and shallow, a conversation that lasted only a couple of minutes in ‘total disregard to the loss of our Marine,'” Roice said according to the Post.

McCollum’s mother Kathy, in an interview over the weekend, expressed even stronger sentiments

She attacked Biden personally, calling him a “dementia-ridden piece of crap.”

And she blamed Biden’s voters for the death of her son.

“Every Democrat who is listening, you did this to my son,” she said.

McCollum Widow: ‘This Did Not Need To Happen, And Every Life Is On His Hands’

“You can’t f— up as bad as he did and say you’re sorry,” Roice said of the president. “This did not need to happen, and every life is on his hands.”

The news outlet noted that “The White House declined to comment on the private conversations Biden had with families.”

At least one other grieving parent blamed Biden for his son’s death.

Speaking to the Daily Beast, Kareem Nikoui, the father of Steve Nikoui, said, “They sent my son over there as a paper pusher and then had the Taliban outside providing security. I blame my own military leaders … Biden turned his back on him. That’s it.”
