Texas Governor Greg Abbott: Guns Aren’t the Problem, It’s Hearts Without God

Liberals are outraged at the thought, but Governor Greg Abbott is right on with this one.

The left wants to claim inanimate objects like a gun are the cause of mass shootings, but there’s a weapon far more responsible than any rifle, shotgun, handgun, or so-called assault weapon could ever be.

It’s an empty or evil heart.

In the wake of yet another senseless tragedy at Santa Fe High School this past weekend, liberals are offended by that concept yet again. How dare Governor Abbott invoke God and religion to help explain what is happening in America.

Earlier this month, Abbott spoke at the NRA Convention in Dallas, explaining that the best way to stop this violence is with religion and the Second Amendment.

“The answer to gun violence is not to take guns away, the answer is to strengthen the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens,” he said during his speech. “The problem is not guns, it’s hearts without God.”

Abbott has been a reliable and staunch advocate for the Second Amendment since becoming governor of Texas. (RELATED: Texas Governor’s Four Words Have Obama Running SCARED!).

When former President Barack Obama threatened to implement gun control through illegal executive orders, Abbott responded on social media by posting a meme that said, “come and take it.”

Abbott also cited the Sutherland Springs church shooting to suggest a stronger connection to God is what is needed in America, not gun control. Leftists – you know, the ones whose own party removed God from their platform, and who continually mock those who offer thoughts and prayers – dutifully scoffed at the idea.

“We have evil that occurs in this world, whether it be a terrorist who uses a truck to mow down bikers in New York City, whether it be a terrorist who uses bombs or knives to stab people or other terrorists who use vehicles, whether it be in Nice, France, or any other place in the entire world, who mow down people,” he explained.

“And I’m going to use the words of the citizens of Sutherland Springs themselves, and that is, they want to work together for love to overcome evil, and you do that by working with God.”

One thing these mass shooters share with liberals – an outright rejection of God in their lives.

Hearts without God pull the trigger, and hearts without God abet them by trying to disarm law-abiding citizens.
