Gowdy Offers Proof Trump Is Innocent on Russian Collusion

Gowdy Trump innocent

Trey Gowdy appeared on “Fox News Sunday” to discuss the new revelations from the FBI’s FISA warrant application that was used to spy on Trump associate Carter Page (among other subjects). The FISA application more or less confirms every suspicion that conservatives had. Within the first few pages of the application, it’s confirmed that the FISA application relied heavily on information from British spy Christopher Steele’s infamous anti-Trump dossier. Steele is referred to throughout the application as “Source 1.”

So in other words, it was a foreign spy meddling in our election that the FBI used to justify spying on Carter Page, on the basis that Page was acting with foreign powers to meddle in our election. A bit ironic, but also disturbing, because it shows that the FBI was influenced by Clinton-funded partisan research. As you may remember, it was Fusion GPS funding Steele’s dossier, which received funding from the Clinton campaign, DNC, and Obama’s “Organizing for America.”

And for all the research that’s gone into Trump’s alleged collusion with the Russians, whether it be Steele’s dossier, the FBI’s counterintelligence operation, or the Mueller Special Council (which is a continuation of the FBI’s counterintelligence operation), has there been anything to show for it? Not a single indictment of anyone related to the Trump campaign stemming from the Mueller Special Counsel actually has to do with Russian collusion.

Paul Manafort and Rick Gates were indicted on tax evasion and money laundering charges, while George Papadopoulos and Michael Flynn lied to the FBI. (RELATED: Mueller Offered Tony Podesta Immunity In Exchange For Testimony Against Paul Manafort).

Those facts alone are evidence that there isn’t any real collusion, a point which Gowdy played off on Fox. While every inappropriate comment made in a Trump staff meeting seems to get leaked, how could proof of Russian collusion not be? “I have not seen one scintilla of evidence that this president colluded, conspired, collaborated, with Russia. And neither has anyone else, or you can rest assured, Adam Schiff would have leaked it,” Gowdy said. “That is why they have moved on from collusion on to obstruction of justice, which is now their current preoccupation.”

Watch the full interview below:

Despite the lack of evidence of collusion, Gowdy did comment that “The evidence [of manipulation in the election] is overwhelming. It can be proven beyond any evidentiary burden that Russia is not our friend and they tried to attack us in 2016. So, the president either needs to rely on the people that he has chosen to advise him, or those advisors need to reevaluate whether or not they can serve in this administration.” (RELATED: Trump Repudiates Comments on Russia).

Still, to say that Russia both interfered in the election (as they’re known to do globally) and preferred Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton isn’t to say that they colluded with the Trump campaign. After all, does anyone remember who Vladimir Putin said he wanted to win the 2012 Presidential election?

That would be Barack Obama.
