It’s official!

Gina Haspel just cleared her next big hurdle to be confirmed as the new director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

The controversial nomination process is almost over, and enough Democrats flipped to give her the votes for confirmation. Yesterday, the path forward for Haspel became clear after Senator Mark Warner, the Democrat senator of Virginia, flipped and announced his support for Haspel. Warner joined two other red-state Democrats, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Joe Donnelly of Indiana, in offering his support for her in advance of the full vote.

And now the Senate Intelligence Committee voted in favor of Haspel:

With enough Democrat support, there’s no question Haspel will be the next CIA director. Senator Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has indicated that he wants a full confirmation vote as soon as possible.

Haspel’s confirmation is consequential in a way liberals would normally love, but, because they’re blinded by Trump hatred, can’t celebrate. Haspel will be the first-ever female director of the CIA. This is a broken glass ceiling that Hillary can only dream of breaking.
