You’ve got to hand it to George W. Bush. When the moment is right, he sure knows how to crack a good joke like he’s cracking an egg into a mixing bowl.

Unlike his loud-mouthed successor, Bush maintains a quiet dignity when it comes to weighing in on his fellow presidents. He doesn’t criticize siting presidents, and doesn’t say an unkind word about anyone.

This is in stark contrast to Barack Obama, who still hungers for the spotlight, and wastes no opportunity to malign President Trump.

Bush did find a way to express an opinion about President Trump recently. In the pages of National Journal, he poked fun at the chaotic White house operations currently taking place under the President. Here’s what 43 said:

Liberals will, of course, take this as a slight against Trump. They’ll pretend that we forgot all the nasty, vile things they said about Bush in the past. Some of the liberal greatest hits levied against Bush were calling him a Nazi, Hitler, and Satan himself.

But this was no criticism of Trump. It was a jab at the media, who gleefully derided Bush while he was in office.

What’s funny is that Trump recently admitted that he actually likes “chaos” and and unpredictable workplace.

Trump doesn’t come from the ho-hum world of politics, where horse-trading and compromise rule. He’s a businessman. He likes to get things done and over with as quickly as possible.

To the Washington crowd, this seems nuts. To everyone else, it seems normal.

As the former manager of a Major League Baseball team, I’m sure Bush understands that.
