The liberal infatuation with George W. Bush is about to end.

If you recall, Bush was the most maligned president in history during his time in the White House. Democrats didn’t hesitate to call him the Devil, or Hitler, or just evil incarnate.

President Bush represented an existential threat to America…that is, until Donald Trump came along and turned Bush from boogeyman to a sweet, innocent cherub.

Just last month, a poll on Bush’s favorability rating showed that over 60% have a favorable view of the former President. Since Democrats can’t chew gum and walk at the same time, it seems they are incapable of directing their demented hate at more than one person at the same time, too.

Now, Bush may have shed his new-found liberal love. During a speech in Abu Dhabi, he said the following: “There’s pretty clear evidence that the Russians meddled” in the 2016 election.

But here comes the kicker: “Whether they affected the outcome is another question.”

That’s not just another question – that’s the entire question.

And, given all that we know about Russian interference during the election, it’s quite clear that whatever meddling done didn’t have a huge effect on the election outcome. In fact, the Russian shenanigans couldn’t have had a more minimal impact.

From New York magazine:

Absent that data, the best we can do is make educated assessments based on past experience. And to anyone who’s worked in online advertising or social-media management, the $100,000 spent by the Russian government is laughably small, no matter how precisely targeted. In contrast, the official Trump campaign spent $90 million on digital ads — and, unlike the Russians, had assistance from Facebook employees to target and deploy them effectively. “There’s no way $100,000 in ad budget impacted the election. It’s ridiculous,” García Martínez said.

That’s a liberal source, by the way.

If you still don’t think the Russian effect on the election was negligible, just listen to Hillary Cliton, who, still to this day, maintains that it was former FBI Director James Comey re-opening the email investigation just a week prior to Election Day who cost her the White House.

Democrats were likely expecting Bush to repeat their claim that Russia cost Hillary the election. Too bad he took the opposite approach, implying that it had a marginal effect.
