What exactly is in the water out on the left coast?

California gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newson has suggested he would provide universal health care to illegal immigrants through the implementation of an executive order.

During an interview on “Pod Save America,” the Democrat discussed his record of providing universal health care regardless of immigration status during his tenure as mayor of San Francisco.

He’d like to see that plan extended to the entire Golden State.

“San Francisco is the only universal health care plan for all undocumented residents in America, very proud of that, and we proved it can be done without bankrupting in the city,” he said. “I’d like to see that we can extend that to the rest of the state.”

“That process can be done without a bill,” he explained. “That process should be done by the next governor and I’m committed to it for no other reason than health care is devouring our budget. Healthcare in this state is the biggest driver of unfunded retirement benefits. It’s a driver of a lot of our costs.”

You know what else devours a lot of the budget in California?

Illegal immigration.

A 2017 report from the Federation for American Immigration Reform, a non-profit group, estimates that the cost per illegal alien in California is $6,517, with an annual cost throughout the state of over $23 billion.

If he’s truly concerned about costs and the impact to the state budget, he’d try to thwart illegal immigration in California.

But hey, that probably doesn’t sell to his radical base quite like handing out free stuff to lawbreakers.

Single-payer is popular in the Democrat Party, though attempts to implement such a system statewide have failed.

Newsom’s plan is something Forbes Magazine has openly wondered might be his “demise.”

Willing to bring about his demise to show his love for illegal aliens doesn’t stop with free health care.

As California’s lieutenant governor, Newsom encouraged local officials earlier this year to follow Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf and warn illegal immigrants of potential ICE raids.

“We can and must protect immigrant families from Donald Trump’s mass deportations,” Newsom said. “I want to thank Mayor Schaaf for her courage and hope more local leaders will follow her lead.”

Whose side is Newsom on – illegal immigrants or citizens of his state?

Polls show Newsom leading his opponent by nearly 24 points.
