95-Year-Old World War II Vet Fights Off Would-Be Burglar With His Bare Hands

They don’t call them the greatest generation for nothing.

Ninety-five-year-old World War II veteran Frederick Bennett was enjoying a normal evening at his home just days before Christmas. His daughter was visiting, and the only other ‘person’ in the house was his dog, Hugo.

That is until a would-be burglar gained access and tried to rob the elderly Marine.

Bad idea.

Bennett discovered the man inside a bedroom in his home. After being busted, the thief demanded Bennett’s wallet or there would be consequences.

“He says, ‘I want your wallet, give me your wallet. I’ll kill you, I’ll kill the dog,” the veteran explained.

Rather than hand him over the wallet or say ‘take whatever you want,’ Bennett issued a warning.

“Get the hell out of here,” Bennett said.

That’s when the tide turned against the burglar in dramatic fashion.

Bennett attacked the suspect and tried tossing him out of the house with his bare hands. The Marine tackled him.

“Then I was mad. Then I was trying to get the wallet back from him and I was reaching around his waist and we both went down on the floor,” he said.

Not only is Bennett a badass, but he apparently raised another in his daughter who, upon hearing the commotion, came in to aid her father.

“As soon as I came through that doorway I see my dad on the floor with his arms wrapped around this guy, standing in our kitchen. I didn’t even think I just reacted,” 51-year-old Mary Bennett explained.

Mary got the burglar outside the back door, but wasn’t content with letting him get away.

“He said, ‘I’m sorry.’ And I said, ‘Sorry doesn’t cut it.’ … I said, ‘I’m not leaving you alone until you are in handcuffs,'” she said.

She then gave chase throughout the neighborhood, tackled him, and held him down until the police arrived.

The man would be charged with burglary and battery to a person.

“Very proud,” Bennett said of his daughter. “She was the hero.”

We’ll say there were two heroes in this scenario, the World War II vet, and the daughter.
