On Wednesday, a new Fox News poll shows that 51 percent of respondents support the impeachment of President Donald Trump–and removing him from office. Support for both was up nine points from an earlier poll published on July 19th.
This new poll shows an additional four percent believe Trump should remain in office if impeached, while 40 percent opposed impeachment. Five percent said they were undecided.

Ukraine Call Might Be Game Changer
“The poll comes as House Democrats are attempting to move expeditiously with an impeachment inquiry against President Trump over a partisan CIA officer mischaracterization the president’s summer telephone call with the leader of Ukraine in a so-called ‘whistleblower’ complaint,” Breitbart reports. “Both the credibility of the so-called ‘whistleblower’ and his complaint have come in question as the officer was revealed as a registered Democrat with a previous ‘professional relationship’ with a Democratic presidential candidate, while his accusations are based on secondhand information.”

“His chief claim is that President Trump pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to look into allegations of corruption against former Vice President and White House hopeful Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden. Both President Trump and Zelensky have vehemently denied any pressured was applied and the White House released a transcript of their call to illustrate no wrongdoing occurred,” Breitbart notes.
The Fox News poll found 43 percent believe President Trump’s comments during his call with Zelensky on July 25th were impeachable. 27 percent said that while the comments were inappropriate, they were not impeachable. 17 percent believe his comments were appropriate.
The poll surveyed 1,003 registered voters and was conducted by telephone between October 6th-8th.

Cause for Concern
It should be of some concern to the White House that a non-liberal outlet, Fox News, is finding even a small majority in favor of both impeaching and ousting the President from office.
Perception is reality, and while many Americans understand that Democrats have been conducting a witch hunt against Trump from day one, if a majority of American have lost faith in him and his office, that does not bode well for the rest of his first term and certainly doesn’t set the right tone for the 2020 election.
President Trump will no doubt fight this and hopefully truth will win out. Maybe when Americans learn all the facts, these poll numbers will change. The President should certainly hope so.
