Fox News’ Chris Wallace Hammers Scalise Over Texas Lawsuit For ‘Disenfranchising’ Biden Voters

Fox News host Chris Wallace criticized Republican House Minority Whip Steve Scalise on Sunday for the congressman’s support of the rejected Texas election lawsuit at the Supreme Court.

Wallace claimed that, if successful, the lawsuit would “disenfranchise 10 million Joe Biden voters.”

The exchange took place on this week’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday.”

Wallace And Scalise Lock Horns

Though the Supreme Court dismissed the case on Friday, Scalise explained why moving forward with the lawsuit against four battleground states would have been better for voter trust.

“There’s going to ultimately be a conclusion to this, but for now I think if you just discount the fact that millions of people wonder why is it that in some states — Florida, Texas, large states, they had the results by 10:00 that night and then in other states, it was days and weeks, and during those days and weeks you saw massive vote swings that just seed a lot of distrust.”

Wallace responded, “The reason that there was these vote swings was in a lot of states they weren’t able to count the millions of mail-in ballots until election night, and everybody knew — and in fact, it happened, in Florida, it went the other way.”

Wallace: ‘Do You Feel Comfortable Throwing Out Millions Of Votes Of Your Fellow Americans?’

“They were able to count the mail-in ballots early, so it favored Biden early, and then it swung to Trump,” Wallace said.

Wallace continued, “In Pennsylvania, they had to count the mail-in ballots late, so it started pro-Trump, and then it swung to Biden.”

Wallace would then hit Scalise for what he sees as an attempt to ‘disenfranchise’ Biden voters.

“You were talking about disenfranchising the 10 million Biden voters who supported Biden in those four states,” Wallace said.

“Do you feel comfortable throwing out millions of votes of your fellow Americans?” Wallace followed up.

Scalise responded, “Nobody wants any votes thrown out.”

“That’s what the lawsuit would have done,” Wallace insisted.

The purpose of the Texas lawsuit, in brief, was to challenge election law changes in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan that were implemented by Governors or bureaucrats, rather than state legislatures – a move Texas argued was unconstitutional under Article II.

The court ultimately rejected the suit, claiming that Texas did not have standing.

Does Team Trump Plan To Concede?

Scalise defended the Texas lawsuit as upholding the constitutional process for electing the president.

“If you look at the Texas lawsuit, what it was saying if there are some states that didn’t follow the laws that were on their books,” Scalise said. “The Constitution is very clear that state legislatures set the process for having electors.”

Wallace replied, “With all due respect, the Supreme Court threw that out. They didn’t even hear it. They didn’t think it even merited a hearing.”

Wallace then asked if Team Trump is going to recognize Joe Biden as president-elect after the Electoral College vote scheduled for Monday.

“You’re not willing to recognize [Biden] as the president-elect, and you’re not willing to stop contesting the election?” Wallace asked.

“Joe Biden has been going through a transition with President Trump supporting him,” Scalise responded. “Let’s let this legal process play itself out.”
