Former Obama Labor Secretary Bans Travel From LA County to Alabama Over Abortion Law

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, led by Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, a former cabinet member in the Obama administration, has voted to ban travel to the state of Alabama over their new pro-life law.

Solis authored a motion to ban travel associated with official county business to the Yellowhammer State for a period of one year, and the board voted in the affirmative.

The ban specifically excludes certain emergency response needs that may arise. One also has to wonder just how much business officials from Los Angeles County would have in a state over 2,000 miles away.

As such, we know the gesture is merely symbolic, but take a look at the reasoning Solis uses to justify such a travel ban. Abortion, she claims, is a Constitutional right. It also apparently aids in the “wellbeing of families.”

That’s right – killing a baby is what’s best for the family.

“We must stand in solidarity and in opposition against extremist and unconstitutional laws that put the health and wellbeing of families at risk,” Solis said in a statement. “The constitutional and human right to a safe and legal abortion is part of the very fabric of the United States.”

For the Children

Only a Democrat, particularly an acolyte of the Obama administration, could turn the literal act of ending a child’s life into something that benefits the family.

If Solis is so concerned about the children she might want to take a look at what’s happening in her own county.

A recent audit shows that the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) left some kids in “unsafe and abusive situations” for months.

The audit stemmed from a case involving 8-year-old Gabriel Fernandez, who died after enduring months of torture at the hands of his mother and her boyfriend, despite teachers pleading with the county to step in.

Perhaps Alabama should vote to ban all travel to California until child abuse, neglect, and murder that could have been stopped by the DCFS is corrected.

Solis Violated Hatch Act as Labor Secretary

As Obama’s Secretary of Labor, Solis wasn’t a big fan of adhering to laws and rules, being blatantly caught violating the Hatch Act in 2014.

She was caught soliciting funds for his re-election campaign while on the taxpayer’s dime.

“This is Hilda Solis calling, um, just calling you off-the-record here,” she is heard saying to a subordinate on an audio recording. “Wanted to ask you if you could, um, help us get folks organized to come to a fundraiser that we’re doing for Organizing for America for Obama campaign.”

The Hatch Act prohibits employees in the executive branch of the federal government from engaging in some forms of political activity.
