Former Obama Ethics Official Criticizes Biden Admin For Dodging Questions About Hunter Biden’s Art

On Wednesday, former Director of the U.S. Office of Government Ethics under Obama, Walter Shaub, gave some constructive criticism of President Joe Biden and his White House staff.

Shaub commented on White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s replies to questions about Hunter Biden, his father President Joe Biden, and the son’s expensive artwork.

Who Is Buying Hunter Biden’s Artwork?

Hunter Biden’s art recently sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars. New York Post reporter Steven Nelson asked Psaki about the ethics of those exchanges. 

Nelson said, “We at The New York Post reported on Friday that the First Son had sold five prints of his artworks for $75,000 each and that a team of lawyers is reviewing prospective buyers who are going to be allowed into an upcoming New York show.”

“That seems to suggest a departure from the White House-brokered agreement where the purchasers would be anonymous,” Nelson proposed.

Fox News reported, “Shaub commented on a clip of White House press secretary Jen Psaki responding to questions regarding Hunter Biden, President Joe Biden’s son, and his artwork. New York Post reporter Steven Nelson asked Psaki about the ethics of Hunter selling his artwork for tens of thousands of dollars a piece. ”

Schaub asked if Psaki “could say if the White House knows who purchased the five prints and whether there is indeed a departure to the arrangement that there would anonymity here.”

“I know this is your favorite topic,” Psaki responded. “But it, again, it’s still is the purview of the gallerist.”

“We still do not know and will not know who purchases any paintings,” she added. “And the president remains proud of his son.”

It’s not the first time former Ethics Chief Schaub has slammed Hunter’s art career.

This summer, when it was reported that Hunter’s art could sell for as much as $500,000 apiece, Schaub commented, “There is simply no way an artist who has never even juried into a community center art fair is going to suddenly show up in New York selling art for half a million a pop. Let’s talk about the magnitude of this… That’s $6.5 million going to the president’s son for being the president’s son, not for being an artist and I just think that’s absolutely appalling.”
