Special Counsel Robert Mueller takes another scalp.

Back in October, Mueller formally charged former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort with making false statements and conspiracy. Now, it looks like Michael Flynn is facing the same charges.

The news break comes via CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins. Check it out below:

The exact incident took place just four days after Trump was inaugurated:

CNN provides more of a breakdown on their site:

Special counsel Robert Mueller has charged former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn with “willfully and knowingly” making “false, fictitious and fraudulent statements” to the FBI regarding conversations with Russia’s ambassador.

He is due to appear in court later Friday morning, a court spokesperson said. The White House declined to immediately comment.

This is big. We all knew that Mueller was going to throw the book at the Trump Administration, and everyone affiliated with it. This may be a ploy to charge Flynn and get him to roll on the President, extracting more information about potential wrongdoing.

Michael Flynn, of course, was the short-lived National Security Advisor for the White House, who left the job after only a few weeks over a controversy where he lied to Vice President Mike Pence over his ties to the country of Turkey.

These charges show that the Mueller investigation into Trump connections to Russia is just heating up. We’re also just getting word that Flynn is pleading guilty to the charges:

Many are speculating that Flynn cut a deal with Mueller in exchange for possible damning information on President Trump:

What do you think? Is this a sign that President Trump is in trouble? Did Michael Flynn cut a deal so that he only needed to plead guilty to charges of making false statements to the FBI? Will Democrats use this to further impede the Trump agenda? Tell us your thoughts below and share this breaking news now!
