Florida Surgeon General Refuses To Wear Mask, Gets Kicked Out Of Meeting With Democrat Lawmaker

Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo was asked to leave a meeting with State Senator Tina Polsky (D) after refusing to wear a mask.

Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo was reportedly asked to leave a meeting with State Senator Tina Polsky (D) after refusing to wear a mask earlier this week.

Polsky, who was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in August, claims she told Ladapo that she has “a very serious medical condition” and asked him repeatedly to wear the mask.

Ladapo, who strongly opposes mask mandates, offered to go outside with the senator, but Polsky stated she’d rather speak with him in her office.

After an exchange of comments, the surgeon general and his aides were asked to leave.

“It was so shocking to me that he treated me in this manner,” Polsky told the Associated Press.

“If he is a surgeon general for the next several years, I am really concerned about a future public health emergency and not being able to rely on him for necessary guidance and proper scientific leadership.”

Florida Surgeon General Refuses to Wear Mask

Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo, chosen in part because of an anti-mandate sentiment he shares with Governor Ron DeSantis, has according to Axios, “worked to strengthen the state’s ban on school mask mandates and has even questioned the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines.”

In a column in the Wall Street Journal last month, Ladapo took aim at “a zealous pursuit of public mask-wearing” which he noted, “has had, at best, a modest effect on viral transmissions.”

DeSantis appointed Ladapo back in September, where he immediately said he doesn’t believe in school closures, lockdowns, or vaccine mandates.

“Florida will completely reject fear as a way of making policies in public health. So we’re done with fear,” Ladapo declared.

“That’s been something that’s been, unfortunately, a centerpiece of health policy in the United States ever since the beginning of the pandemic and it’s over here,” he added. “Expiration date. It’s done.”

Fighting Against the Mandates

Florida is quickly becoming ground zero for the fight against government overreach and forced mandates.

Governor DeSantis recently threatened to take President Biden to court over the administration’s extensive vaccine mandate, arguing that he has no right to take jobs away from essential workers.

“Let’s not have Biden come in and effectively take away — threaten to take away — the jobs of people who have been working hard throughout this entire pandemic,” DeSantis said. “I am offended that a police officer could potentially lose their job.”

Earlier, Leon County in Florida was fined $3.57 million for imposing a vaccine mandate on local government employees in violation of the state’s ban on vaccine passports.

Under Florida law, any business entity – including the local government – that requires proof of a COVID vaccine is subject to a $5,000 fine per infraction.

DeSantis is now seeking to offer $5,000 bonuses to police officers to relocate to Florida where they can avoid vaccination mandates being imposed in blue cities and states such as New York.

“We’re actually actively working to recruit out-of-state law enforcement because we do have needs in our police and our sheriff’s departments,” DeSantis said in a Fox News interview over the weekend.

“So, in the next legislative session, I’m going to hopefully sign legislation that gives a $5,000 bonus to any out-of-state law enforcement that relocates in Florida,” he continued.

He urged those officers working in blue cities to come to the Sunshine State.

“So, NYPD, Minneapolis, Seattle, if you’re not being treated well, we will treat you better here,” said DeSantis. “You can fill important needs for us, and we will compensate you as a result.”
