Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has spoken out this week to say that he will not comply with lockdown orders from Joe Biden, should the Democrat move forward with calling for national lockdowns amidst the coronavirus pandemic if he takes office in January.

DeSantis Refuses To Enforce Potential Biden Lockdown

“Today we are back down to 4,500 [cases] and a 7.3% positivity rate,” a spokesperson for DeSantis told CBS12 News. “We believe yesterday’s high number was due to a large submission file and skewed the numbers for that day. The Governor will not lockdown and hurt families who can’t afford to shelter in place for 6 weeks. Especially not for a virus that has a 99.8% survival rate.”

“One area of concern is Assisted Living Facilities,” the spokesperson added. “Since those over 70 face the greatest threat from [COVID] the Governor is monitoring those numbers daily and is prepared to move therapeutic and prophylactic assets to those facilities as needed.”

Biden Advisor Calls For Potential National Lockdown

This came after Michael Osterholm, a member of Biden’s coronavirus task force, said on MSNBC that we may need another national lockdown to slow the spread of COVID-19.

“In the first week of August, Neel Kashkari, the president of the Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank, and I wrote an op-ed piece in The New York Times that basically said we need to, in a sense, lockdown to drive this infection level to a place where we can actually control it with testing and tracing and follow-up that way, just like the Asian countries have done,” he said.

“And I’m talking about everything from Australia to New Zealand, all the way right up through China, Japan. All of those countries have done it already,” he continued. 

“To deal with the pain and suffering economically is what we basically proposed was because the savings rate in this country has gone out of the roof, since the pandemic,” Osterholm added. “He have gone from 8% to over 22%. We can borrow the money from ourselves at historically low-interest rates. We can pay people to lose their job. We can pay small business.”

Various media outlets have declared Biden to be the winner of the presidential election, although President Donald Trump has yet to concede and is continuing to fight the results in court. If Biden is indeed the winner, we can only imagine what restrictions he’ll put in place, using coronavirus as an excuse to control as many aspects of our lives as he can.
